    Rockhopper Classic 2013, May 26

Hello mtbr's. Back again and even more bard arse than last year is the Rockhopper Classic! We've been hard at work making sure this year will be the best ever. The trails at Lagoon Valley Park are currently riding sweet. The crew is out today clearing brush. We've change the XC course by taking out a few of the short steeps to make the three lap experience a little less humbling. Here is the strava segment:
Strava Segment | 2013 Rockhopper XC

On the Super D side, we are going to use the XC downhill this year which is way more fun than last years course in my opinion. I am also adding a few "features" that will be optional (super D only) but will cut some time off your score. We will bring back the "Steaze" award on some part of the course... Here is a video of us riding the super d a few years back (doesn't show any of the features)

We constructed a new line yesterday that has a rock jump goes under a tree then has a rock garden leading into the lower switchbacks. I find is quite fun.

How much climbing/ flat is on this years Super D course? I may be racing but I need to decide what bike I will be using.

Is this as technical as the trail gets? It looks like you can do this on a hardtail.

You could do this on any bike. However, I think a trail bike would be the most ideal. Pick your wheel size. I will be going retro with the 26er

I may bring my DH bike if there is not a whole lot of climbing since that's what I use at the CCCX Super D races.

Also this race is set up so you can race both Super D and XC? Just checking that nothing overlaps since I want to ride both.

Cool trails. Looking at satellite blow up, and then watching the SD vid, I was thinking man, those sure look a lot like some sidehill livestock trails! Then @ around 4:30 seeing you scatter the cattle it made sense. Thanks for the heads up Justin. I just may check this race event out.
Wait, who did he tell you that?....

If I race both, is there some "use the same bike" requirement?
Lead by my Lefty............... right down the trail, no brakes.

I'm going to ride today (wed. 15th) around 5:30pm. I've never been to this location and want to race both events. Anyone up for a pre ride?

Rockhopper 2013, May 26-dissident.jpgMore prizes arrived today. This one is for the Steaze contest. For those who don't know about this, there is a rock jump towards the end of the super D track. Hit it with some Style and Ease and win! This is the first place prize...

Dang, wish we could come race. It just won't work for the family schedule this weekend and our main family racer (my son) is a bit PTO'ed from his effort in last week's high school state champs. Looks like a great course though and we hope to be in there next year!

I coach our local HS team (Vacaville Dirt Dogs) and most of our team is racing in one capacity or another. Kids can recover in less than 7 days so bring em next time.

Our course is officially Weir approved.

He will be out there Sunday battling in the Super D. He also kicked us down some schwag for the raffle. We have so much stuff to give away, pretty much anyone who is there for the raffle will win something...
