Bicyclist critically injured after falling from Concord trail - San Jose Mercury News
CONCORD -- A 42-year-old bicyclist was badly injured Friday evening after falling from a trail near Mt. Diablo State Park, firefighters said.
About 8:15 p.m., fire crews responded to reports of a man who had fallen off his bike on a trail off N. Gate Road, Batallion Chief Terry Stewart said.
According to Stewart, the man was riding alone when he fell off the trail into a ravine about 20 feet below.
Firefighters used ropes to lift the man back onto the trail, Stewart said.
The man was wearing a helmet but sustained traumatic injuries to his head, chest and leg due to the nature of the fall, firefighters said. He was transported to John Muir Medical Center in critical condition.
