Ride it while you can - Skyline trail Napa reroute coming.

"Perry said Syar is working with the Skyline Park Citizensí Association to accurately establish the boundaries between the park and the quarry site; the lines the state drew can vary up to 100 feet in width.Parts of the Skyline Trail run onto Syarís property, requiring a redesign that will put the trail solely on park property. Syarís planned expansion will extend to areas where the trail sits currently, and the citizens association is working with a trailmaster to develop the final redesign."

I hope it ends up being even better! Some of that trail behind detention center (?) is getting kind of wide, and double track. The rock areas are still in good shape, but maybe the end product will be better, and back to narrow single track. We will see.

That sucks. Good to see you on the road today though.

I didn't understand exactly where they are talking about. Is it the river to ridge trail side or the actual skyline trail?

It looks like it's the Southern portion of Skyline Trail where is abuts the mine property. Hopefully it's not Upper Skyline.

edit: It looks like Upper Skyline might be in jeopardy as well based upon this graphic:

It's a great park and I have faith that a re-route will be just fine. They treat mountain bikers right up there.

I don't think River to Ridge is in any danger at all.

Given the nature of past re-routes and the historic efforts to dumb down the trails I hope that you're right.

All they need to do is a lot line adjustment (land swap). I'm a napa valley surveyor and we do this often. I'm working on 3 right now...
I hope you have a big trunk... cause I'm gonna put my bike in it!

How does this..if at all tie into the recent land purchase at Rockville? I heard that the intention with that purchase was to create a trail system that connected both parks.

No tie in at all. This will affect the West side of Skyline.
