Next Sunday (July 10) Fairfax will host the kickoff party for a public art work honoring Repack as the birthplace of modern mountain biking. The same artists who built the "Obelisk" next to the San Anselmo fire station plan to create a work on a wall in Fairfax recognizing the Repack Downhill.

In connection with the fund raiser there will be a "Kluncours d'Excellence" to show off original and re-created klunker bikes of the sort used to pioneer downhill racing. Expect Master of the Craft Alan Bonds to be on hand as well as some of his disciples. If you are riding in Fairfax next week, stop by the park after your ride for beer and BBQ.

My new band, "Mark Twang" will be the background noise. Here is the poster for the event, based on an original Repack race poster from 1978.
