    Rain, rain at last!

The weather forecasters mostly got this storm right; the timing based on their predictions of 10 days ago was spot-on. If anything the amount of rainfall to be expected was a bit underestimated.

A couple of stats I watch for Coe Park; the rain for 48 hours at Cordoza Ridge RAWS looked like this just now:

So yes trails are closed to bikes right now. BTW RAWS = remote automated weather station. Chart is from Cordoza Ridge TT119.

Here's the flow in Coyote Creek downstream from Coe's Hunting Hollow entrance:

200 CFS isn't much but look how fast it's coming up; the creek was hardly running at all a week ago. This is from waterdata.usgs.gov

BTW both of those links are at Coe's coepark.net as is the trail-conditions page where the bicycle rain closure notice is posted. (Typically updates at 6:00 AM)

Helping cool the Socal fire season.

Unfortunately didn't translate much to snow but that's a different forum...

Trails were all time on Sunday. This one will certainly soak em. Weekend could be dried enough to limit damage we will see.

Did it dump a ton of new snow? None. Raining at Donner Summit. Probably melted the rest of the mountain range scraps and man-made. So warm this rain, specially today.

We got over 2.4" in the last 24 hours here in Little River by the airport.

Trails will be a mess. If anyone is considering coming this weekend, please gravel grinding only or wait a week or two.

I was hoping for more rain/snow in Reno for those of us traveling to CX Nats later this week to provide some epic conditions. Doesn't look like much in them thar mountains though and things will be dry by Thursday.

3.75" since midnight Sunday to now, according to the rain gauge in my garden. Local stations are reporting similar, we are about 12 miles as the crow flies straight south of Toro Park. Usually things start getting messy when we get more than 2" in a day, but the ground is still sucking this up. The land is thirsty here this winter!

The flip side of that coin is that the SoCal fire zone is getting nuked. The heartbreak down there just keeps on coming. I hope they get some room to breathe soon.

Just need to head to higher elevation like Mammoth for snow. So sad for Tahoe though.

I'm busy this weekend, but I'd love to ride with a local who knows the trails. Are weekdays an option for you?
