Pacifica - temporary trail closures
I rode up Montara Mountain yesterday and saw some PG&E signs on Old San Pedro and Montara Mountain trails. The signs said work on power lines and cables was going to happen 7/22 through 9/30 and a flagman will be on site to temporarly stop hikers and bikers while work is being done. I couldn't tell if they plan to handle it like road construction, where groups of cars are let through during construction, or if trails (or sections of trails) are going to be closed for days or weeks at a time. Does anyone have any more info about this?
Take a leak, leave a leek.
I rot before I ripen
Dunno, but I read the same sign last weekend. One of the power lines going up the hill was broken. My guess is it's going to be fixed and the trail that runs beneath it will be closed.
Spoke w the maint crew chief over the telephone on the scope of the power equipment activity planned.
Widening the Old San Pedro rd(OSP) past Higgins Gate to Saddle to allow for service vehicles access to repair current faulty power wire.
PG+E is obliged to maintain the OSP as they are stakeholder with occasional need for eq maintenance access
No added info other than that the crew is PGE authorized, will be working straight weekdays+are keen on not widening the OSP any more than necessary to perform maintenance.
I have contact info of crew chief, please PM me if you'd like this info.
Local Fire-ambulance personnel has been asking this route be widened for years, allowing them quicker access in event of emergency.
