Remember that most of us are old. We were all sleeping.

    Maltese Falcon

I was sailing in Antigua and the Grenadines last year, and the Maltese Falcon was in dock having work done on it.

    And you're cranky

Anywho, very cool looking boat. All those other sailboats out there so close to one another must have made tacking quite an interesting experience. Sailing on the bay is a blast.

    The thread is now complete

because now we can make fun of Melt. Just like old times. On to Why I hate Specialized or, at the very least, why a 29'er or SS or Crossbike or Fully Rigid is better than the Maltese Falcon.

A truly awesome ship, though. I'm glad someone posted these shots. Nice stuff.

Cannot believe how many boats were out in your pics--too crowded for my tastes.

Isn't that the boat that the founder of Perkin Elmer? I think there was a special on the boat and how he spent so much on it he was embarrassed to admit the amount!

that would be very cool to see up close!

that boat is amazing!! we were stone cold chilling in the Angel Island cove when that came by us. everyone was amazed. it's like Sir Francis Drake coming into the bay except the tiny little boats around it aren't canoes they are respectably sized sailboats. nice shots melt.

lol, last night i was driving through sausalito and i saw this reall cool looking boat in the ocean. It kinda looked like a old english battle ship but really sleak. It had these awesome blue lights the lighted up the entire mast. The whole time i was like what is that thing, well now i know the maltese falcon and i'm piss for not seeing it in the day light.

    Dam!

    according to Wikipedia,
"The Maltese Falcon is a clipper sailing luxury yacht owned by American venture capitalist Tom Perkins. It is one of the largest privately-owned sailing yachts in the world at 88 metres (289.1 feet)...Lusso Magazine ran a cover feature on the Maltese Falcon in their January 2008 edition where they reported that yacht brokers Edmiston and Company were the first to set up a charter – for "a piffling €350,000[$507,570] per week. This price includes a crew of 16, but you still have to pay for food and wine"
    Interestingly enough,
"The Maltese Falcon is currently listed for sale on Yachtworld.com (see external links). The asking price is EUR€115,000,000.[$166,773,015.60]"

Anyone want to chip in on a boat?

The Maltese Falcon was sailing in the bay yesterday. We were doing the bike cruise on Angel Island and watching them sail that beast. Then a real close up of it from the ferry boat.

    Nice day to be out.
