OT: Hiker death at ARP/Sierra Vista

Hiker Falls to His Death in Alum Rock Park | NBC Bay Area

I know lots of SJ residents bike here. This is an area of Sierra Vista OSP that I've never been to. Since I have a mild fear of heights and get tense with a noticeable HR jump when I get near exposure like this, I choose to never ride here.

I see guys on Strava railing this stuff. Stay safe out there. It doesn't take much to lose control.

After seeing a report on tv. I have a feeling he was in the area of the hidden waterfall and maybe tried to scramble up the hill then lost his footing.

I agree with the waterfall theory. Falling off Sierra Vista down to the creek bed is more like a 1000 ft drop, not the 130 -170 ft drop described by the news report.
