OT: American Olympic Gold Medal Count Update

    4

Shaun White came back after what could have been a career ending injury to win Olympic Gold! And in a way that was unbelievable, pressure makes him better. Chloe Kim probably has many more golds left to win. Hats off to Red Gerard and Jamie Anderson. True champions.

At age 31 Shaun is the oldest competitor in the half pipe.

    DH x Snowboarding Shaun intersection:

In 2006, Palmer earned himself a spot on the 2006 U.S. Olympic Snowboarding Team. Palmer was a long shot, qualifying for the team after an 11th-hour World Cup podium finish in Bad Gastein, Austria, just one month before the 2006 Winter Olympics.[5] Unfortunately, Palmer tore his Achilles tendon just two weeks later, rendering him unable to represent the United States.[6]

In 2010, Shaun Palmer was left off the 2010 U.S. Olympic Snowboarding Team. Palmer had sought to fill the last spot on the 18-member squad, but was bumped in favor of Nick Baumgartner.[7] Shaun would have been the oldest man to qualify for the Winter Olympics in history.[5]

Damn, between Nathan Chen's disaster olympics, Shiffrin's disappointing slalom, and Lindsey Jacobellis choking again, the US is leaving a lot of gold on the table.
