    OT: The 2017 plague

Has anybody gotten the flu or virus this year? My son had it for three weeks in feb. Then my daughter last week. Now my wife and I have it.

Stone cold misery. Knocked out, dizzy, body aches, nausea, stomach bug. No antibiotics docs say... just ride it out.

I've been sick off and on for a month or two now. I figured it was from having a kid in daycare, but friends and co-workers have been saying they've had the same thing.

    Walking dead flu virus 2017?

Shoulda got my damn flu shot!

Sounds more like Lyme disease to me.

Yup, all 4 of us have had it. Yay though because Lil'Man didn't go febrile this round. I'm going on two weeks right now, just past the whole stomach/gut part of it and dealing with the random headache and sinus pain part of it. *Only bonus is doc cleared my ankle and I can start putting pedal strokes down again.

Take it easy, drink TONS of purified water. You're gonna find it helps flush the flu-cooties out your system really nicely.

Got it in early December. Spent the first week afraid to eat. Took about 3 weeks to finally clear up.

I'm on day 4 now, finally waking up. Hungry but can't eat as my body is filled with mucous that has to be exorcised.

Wife is way sicker than me so the kids are growing up real fast.

This means you need some Thai/Vietnamese soup with lots of Sriracha. Nothing like hot soup plus hot sauce to flush out those sinuses!

Hot toddies, taken regularly, are a miracle cure. However, in the words of Fergus Henderson, "Be careful, this is so effective you can find yourself turning to its miraculous powers with increasing regularity. Do not let the cure become the cause."

It took both my wife and I out for the better part of two weeks at the end of January. Avoid it like... well, you know, The Plague.

so brutal. it took out everyone in our house but my wife and I got hit the worst. I'm into my third week of a hacking cough and finally starting to feel like I can see a light at the end of the tunnel. haven't ridden a bike in March, this is the longest break off the bike i've had in years. painful with the beautiful weather we've been having..

Yep, I got it as well at the end of January. Couldn't eat for 3 days - lost 10lbs. Back at work after 5 days but it took a full two weeks before I felt "normal". Sickest I've been since something similar in college.

Yeah, same for me. Even after I felt OK, I had phlegm for forking ever. Bleagh.

My kid got something that put her down for about 10 days. Fatigue, some nausea, fever that goes up and down. Missed 6 days of school. Thankfully didn't hit me or the wife. That's the sickest she has been in her 7 years.

I'm on Day 14. Still some congestion and sinus headaches.

But got a ride in yesterday and got my digestive system back. Hopefully back to full strength next week.

Had this exact thing and it took me out of work for a full week. I went to the Urgent Care and got some antibiotics. My throat was toast and they gave me pain killers. Hot soup, lots of lemon stuff helped and near the end I ate some spicy food to open up my nose.
    What trail is that?

I lost most of March to a flu. Had me in bed sleeping three days straight and weak for three weeks. One of the worst flus ever. I'm just putting the pieces back together now. And of course the flu shot made no difference.

I ended up getting this plague last week. To say it sucked was a massive understatement. Upside is it afforded me some time to replace the suspension on my jeep... Hopefully I'll be well enough to ride this week.

Got the flu vaccination and then got a solid case of bronchitis that lasted about a month. Go figure. Not fun. Finding it hard to ride without coughing a lung..

I'm done with with week three now. I'm still hacking up a lung! I can ride and do stuff but have little endurance due to this green poison.

I bought a new pack of Mucinex and will pledge to do 4x a day a half a gallon of water to flush this out!

Day seven of the plague...I'm ready for this to be done. I haven't been on my bike since 4/3/17...can't sleep, no energy, headaches, endless amount of nose goo, sore throat...on a positive note, I've had plenty of time to come up with interesting topics for the forum

Schiit man, sorry about passing it on. Doctor said I was non contaige by that point!

When we were riding, at the 3000 foot climb mark, my body set the shut down signal. I relapsed a little bit. Yesterday was my first day of true freedom.

Mucinex D (the behind the counter stuff) was my elixir.

    "24 hour flu"...

...isn't a flu but you'll think you're gonna die. Norovirus here in the US but the Brits call it the "winter vomiting bug"; I like that better. (Or maybe "projectile $hitting bug" which better describes my recent experience) Very contagious apparently, not sure if I got it from food or human contact. Everybody in my house came down with it shortly after I did.

Never gave it much thought when I've had it in the past; this time I was totally incapacitated for the first 24 hours. Did some research; I like this video from the CDC; they use hi-tech terms like "poop":
