    NorCal MTB Bike Events (races,shows,demos)

I'm going to try something here.

I'm going to put up a list of events throughout NorCal that appear relevant to this group. You can help by listing ones you know of and I'll add them to the list. Please provide:

    Race Name
    Date/Time/Location
Type of event and a link to the info site if available

I'll make this a sticky in hope we get more folks involved in these events and reduce the likelihood of folks missing out because they didn't know about them until it was too late. With the coming storms this feels like a good time to get this started.

Click HERE for a full comprehensive list on Google docs. Thanks NoBalance!

    Good idea Irie,

I'm mostly a vintage bike guy, but this ride/race show caters to modern as well.

It's really comprehensive and useful, thanks for putting this together. It may be that I can't read anymore (possible), but I don't see the Lost Sierra events (Lost and Found, Downieville, Grinduro) on the list.

Any way you could add the dates that registration opens?

    Thanks guys!

I added a link to the Google doc for a more comprehensive listing. I'll keep the main one shorter.

I'm hesitant to put any gravel grinders or enduro races up there but I may start doing that at some point. This is just a free-time kind of thing for me. I really wish there were more 8 and 24 hour races like there used to be ... All those races Bigfoot and Jimmyboy put on are missing. In fact it would nice to have just one race this year for Jimmy to support his own cancer fight but I just don't have the connections to pull that together.

Anybody in the know can comment on this year's Sea Otter XC course, especially for Cat 2/3? I know some years it's better (more fun) than others.

The Wild Wood CES enduro in Mendocino. I think they changed the racing to only 1 day on 6/17. Can anyone confirm?

Either way $180 seems a little out of my budget.

While it's not exactly MTB, the Superpro Gravel Gauntlet starts this weekend and it's almost all dirt riding.

Saturday 3/18: Panoche Desert Hills. 80 miles, ~6,000ft or ~60 miles, ~4,000ft. Wildflowers are blooming now! Climbing and descending on sometimes absurd ridgetop roads, but generally pretty nice ones.

Rumble in the Ranchlands (Mariposa) - April 2 - Utterly spectacularly beautiful. ~80 miles, ~7,000ft

SLO Ride To Hell (SLO)- April 15 - I haven't done this but hear good things.

The Tainthammer - May 20 - I have no idea why you'd want to ride 120 miles of Central Valley canal and farm roads, but people seem to like it.

For real mountain biking, the M5 is scheduled for August this year again.

Looks like Brian is doing a skills clinic at Annadel. If you want coaching on troublesome sections shoot him an email. He's been doing the pre-ride coaching for the California Enduro Series this year. Good guy and excellent coach.

Thanks for posting that! I saw it while boarding a plane and couldn't get it in here in time before "all electronic devices must be turned off". lol
