Just saw this linked by the SF Bike Coalition. Looks like the legislature is considering a poorly-written bill that intends to protect city planners against lawsuits arising from injuries sustained while cycling in a publicly-maintained bike lane. The way it's written, it could be interpreted to protect any public employee from any legal recourse if he kills/injures a cyclist while working 'in an official capacity,' e.g. hits you with his car.
