MTBR Waterdog Trail Work Day, Sat April 27 - check in now.

Ok, this is late notice but this is the great Sea Otter hangover weekend anyway.

The trail work we have planned is Saturday, April 27 at 9am. The great Kevin Sullivan will lead us into finishing Lake Loop and beyond.

We can have a beer/food truck in the park, etc.

What I need now is commitments (not excuses) that you can be there with us.

If we can't get at least 10 by tomorrow, we'll postpone. But let's step up and make this happen.

Lets make it happen! I might even be able to convince Jill and Heather from the photo to make it!
If you are going to bring beer, I will bring a cooler and meet you with the tool truck at 8:40 at the gate at Lake and Lyall. If I miss you I'll have the cooler ready for you at the lake.

Sure, anyone want to ride after?

It's about time I met the crew and had you all teach me a few tricks.

Also any details on exactly where to meet, etc?

I can almost guarantee you wont be feeling like a ride after the trailwork. People say that all the time, then go home for a nap after digging. I'll salute you if you make it though.
If we pull it off, we will meet at the dam at Waterdog at 9am and work til 1pm.

    Cheers

    Niiiiiice. Some momentum here now.

Flat Pedals, I'm sure Sullivan can give you less oaky jobs there. And we'll set up a decontamination station at the truck.

Yes! This will be one of the few days out there that we will not be working in PO. I cannot promise you won't come in contact out there, but we will not be working in it. The main plan is to do some serious digging. Dirt can have oils in it so no guarantees other than we wont be working in vegetation.

    so far. We need more!!!!

Meeting place is 9am at the dam. So park by 8:30 to get there in time.

    Details:
Meet at the Dam at Waterdog at 9AM ready to go. (this means people need to be parking no later than 8:30 to walk up and be ready.)
    NO DOGS ALLOWED
    What to bring:
Wear long sleeves and long pants due to PO
Gloves, sturdy shoes, camelback with plenty of water, a hat.
A hand towel to dry off sweat is nice but just a suggestion.
Also a good idea to bring a change of clothes so you dont have to travel home in same gear.

One of the cool things here is we had a lot of first time trail workers and it seemed everyone felt energized. Instead of feeling like 'there i did my part', I'd say most were saying 'that was fun. let us do that again.'

Even Kevin the trail boss got a shot of faith in the community as he said he was burnt as VERY FEW show up for the scheduled Waterdog trail days. There looks like a sign of hope here.

The next round of trail work should be a the Demo Flow trail. Let's have a show of force there.

p.s. why am i so damn sore? Damn wheelbarrow duty is brutal.

I got lucky and didn't get anything, even though I was wearing a short-sleeved shirt most of the day. Patty didn't get any either. I think the periodic wiping with hand sanitizer helped...

Waterdog and PO are just crazy! Sorry to hear that Francois. You were playing with fire for a while with that lopper trying to cut some back so that might have been part of it. I hope "Flat Pedals" stayed out of it since I sort of indicated we were going to stay away from it.
    AND
Thanks a million to everyone who came out. What a great day of work. We got so much done and it really left that whole section in a great condition to leave for the summer.

    Cheers All!

Ha, it's not a problem. I just have little dots here and there and it's under control with all my steroids. The rhoid rage on the other hand.... It's interesting that the oak went through my thin clothes, I think because of sweating.

I'm riding there tomorrow. Gotta get my KOM back.

Post bump. All the work has been honored with a sweet plaque! Cheers to the leader, Kevin Sullivan and all the volunteers.

Hats off to the City of Belmont Parks and Rec. They are 1000% more supportive than all the other park management in the area.

It's definely a must do. Both directions work but going up the wall first is better. Clockwise.

I had the KOM there for a day. Opening day I think.

I have ridden the trail many times, just never saw the sign before. I usually go counter clockwise just because I like the dumb fun of going down that brick roller again. Also there is a good pair of tight switchbacks that are fun going down.

Thanks to those who put in the work for this trail. It's a fun trail that I always make sure to ride when I'm over there.

I agree, both directions are good. I like CCW as well... going down the tight switchbacks.

Agreed, John Brooks looks like a war zone and some of the corners are so blown out its kinda dangerous.

On a side note, while riding the lovely lake loop this afternoon i managed to break my chain
