So we won the March team KOM! We have the same number of participants as Mission so that's a fair race. They will get the keg this month, but they didn't get the actual win. It doesn't seem at all fair to the other teams, some of whom have a much higher average footies per rider than us and Mission.

My race is scheduled for Sunday morning… so after the race it’d be nice to have some beer, eh, some A.M. Ale?

Beer + watching the DH race on Sunday. This sounds perfect.

Pretty amazing how many people who are part of MTBR on Strava not on the KOM competition. Including Pro Jeff Kerkove.

If they joined the KOM they might as well just call it a day and give us the wins for the rest of the year.

You probably have a better shot than I to get a pint or two. I have a feeling being out in CO I won't get a drop of any of the monthly kegs we may win. Nevertheless, I'll still chip in my 30K-60K a month.

Keg will be after Sea Otter in a more bay-centric location. Maybe we'll have two kegs by that time!!

Think we need to win another month or two and drink all the kegs together. If everyone shows, that's less than a beer per person.
Are we putting air in the tires today?

Very impressive. I am gonna have to make sure I tell Champagne she has some competition!

Just curious...are most those rides in that area (including Jills) fireroad? paved? singletrack? Hard to tell from Strava.

Makes me jealous every time I see you guys doing these rides...so much variety in such a small area.

There are several 2500-3000ft peaks with super quiet paved rural roads going up or moderate to I am going to puke fireroad trails. Singletrack lacking unless you ride up to the Summit out to Demo. Thanks FC! Training - there will be bigger rides to come.

As I was climbing Jamison Creek Rd, there was pickup after pickup going up and down shuttling a DH trail (I won't mention its name as I'm not sure it's kosha). Made it quite entertaining although I wondered if I was doing the wrong type of ride here

That is a funny post. Just think if they had a baby. The Doc would say, "Brace yourself Jill, the baby is coming out quads first. You'll need a second big push for the calves." Porkstacker would just be talking about the weight of his bike when the Doc would finally give him a shot of a sedative to get him back to normal. His heart rate would come down to a relatively low 120 BPM. Aww the possibilities.

Ok, the $100 check is coming now to me.

Let's start planning this keg thing. I would say this weekend or next weekend.

    I would suggest:
Stevens Canyon area, Cupertino - nice picnic area
Waterdog, Belmont - easy to get to in the peninsula
    Skeggs, Woodside CA
Mission Peak, CA - East Bay for the climbers
Rockville, CA - for the far east members.

Some Strava people may attend too.

    What do you think?

My vote: Top of St. Joes!

I say this out of pure selfishness. It is the only place I can think of that doesn't require I get in a car or ride for miles.

Moab, UT, May 22nd. We will need some non-Utahan beer.

Anywhere is fine. Stevens Canyon has nice picnic tables at the bottom. My only request still stands that there be an ant-vegan potluck as well (no offense to the veggies)

Francis: it would have been better if you had started a new thread for the keg party.

I'm fine with anything local: Stevens Canyon has some nice picknick tables at the intersection with Mt Eden road ($5? parking) or Santa Teresa Park is OK too ($6? parking). We definitely should ride first, party afterwards. I'm would prefer next week or later. I think you should just call it and people will show up.

Hey, I just threw that "top 10" thing out to get this moving, and it did. Since Stevens Canyon got so many votes let's consider the venue nailed down. Let's do this next weekend then. Sat or Sun? Everyone chime in.

JL is right we should definitely ride first then feast! I'll bring a small propane bbq and some tasty burgers.

Now you can see why doing things as a committee takes so long!

    Cool

Allen G. and I might attend if it is Sunday...however, jonesen to get a huck on while the dirt is s primo right now. Decisions, decisions. Where exactly? Up top somewhere? I always start below and can't see where the keg would live. Can we look into having Midpen run shuttles for us? A monkey flew out of my ass last night so I am thinking it just might be possible.

I'm busy on Sat the 30th, but would make the trek down if it's on Sunday the 1st. Goes without saying, but I would like to do some sort of pain-inducing ride first as well.

Good news and bad news. Bad news is that I will be out of town and can't make it. That's good news for everyone else because I tend to drink a lot of beer.

We will be in Sonoma for the weekend for passport to Dry Creek, so I will see plenty of Russian River and Bear Republic.

Yesterday I rode by a few large groups having picnics in the group areas near the junction of Stevens Canyon and Mt Eden, and was thinking, "we should have an group picnic and ride sometime out of one of these some time"

These specific sites are reserved ahead of time... to get several of the unreserved picnic spots on a nice weekend day would require someone to get up early and start squatting. If/when a date is finalized, here's the info to call and see if a group spot is available for reserving:

"Reservations are recommended for groups larger than twenty. Please call (408) 355-2201, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday."

LOL you guys are funny! Just wait until the next time anyone sees the heavy bike (the other other heavybike, not the “slightly heavy” Mensocycle)—I ordered a REAL fat front fork, and will be running a 26"x3.7" tire on one of those awesome-oh-oh-OH 65mm wide Surly Large Marge rims. It’s going to kick some major squishy-tire-float-over-the-rough-stuff-@8PSI ass!!!

OK, OK, fine, May 1st it is. What time??????? Which area, just the picnic grounds area near the reservoir/gun range/quarry???

LOL, I am stuck home with the kids on their spring break this entire week, so I’ll be lucky to manage 200 feeties by Friday (trying to do as many errands on the Surly Big Dummy cargobike with the kids in tow). WTF in the world do 4.5 and 6 year olds need a spring break for??? Back in my day, on the other hand…

May will be a huge month for me, but I've got a confession to make: I separated my shoulder on the DH course at Sea Otter so I am off the MTB for a while.

All my footies will be on the cross bike with road tires (ie, my road bike).
