    Mt Biking at Royal Gorge

If you or anyone you know likes to mountain bike on Donner Summit you need to take this survey. Though MTB use greatly outweighs horse use on other summit trails, the biking community is not as well represented as the vocal equestrian community in Royal Gorge's public outreach process. In fact, though the public has been invited to tour the property by automobile and on hiking and equestrian tours, no biking tour was scheduled. Make sure MTB use will be allowed on this amazing property, vote today and share the link with fellow bikers.

Thanks for spreading the word. Did you attend either of the events last week?

Done...Hey everyone...please, please, please take the time to do this survey. This is a huge opportunity for the mountain biking community.

    Hi,
Thanks all for taking the survey!
Mtn biking was well represented at the meetings, especially in Truckee.
There WILL be mountain biking on the property. Lots. I would not fret, but yes you should be involved. I don't think we have a single property that is not open to bikes, and our entire staff rides.
Re: the not having a mountain bike tour, I just didn't think it was really necessary.
It wasn't a case of mtb's getting the short end. Lots of mtb'ers showing up on the hikes. The hikes are 10% to tour the property and 90% to discuss things like meadow management and arch sites. please come out to them though!
    Thanks again!

With John involved, I'm not too worried about MTBers being shafted. Truckee is not the bay area...

    Thanks Zorg!
ps the property is open for riding right now...there is a fair bit of existing singletrack
pps we are not basing policies on who yells the loudest at those meetings and in the survey; we will use them to make sure we are not going off on a weird tangent, are not ignoring or spacing out on something, and are getting and vetting good ideas with everyone. I would add to the Op that at the first public meeting there were some rugged conversations occurring... if you were there I can se why you may be concerned...
    Thanks again everyone,
    john

John - is there any kind of map or other info you would point interested parties to if they wanted to easily find said singletrack?

Most if not all of the existing trails are the royal gorge ski trails. As of last summer there were still some of the big trail map signs out here and there in the forest. I had a cell phone picture of one somewhere that I used as a map.

Like this? The red line was the course for last year's Coolest 8/24 Race.

Yeah, that's basically it. There's a 1/2 dozen sheet-of-plywood sized signs out in the forest like that map. I probably should have grabbed one down and stuck it in the basement.
