Monterey > Santa Cruz > San Jose [options]

We're heading up to Carmel Valley for TDAY weekend from Santa Barbara with the family. I want to get the wife out for a ride that will get her stoked on riding again. A good (not grueling climb) some flowy single track and some trees would be nice.

Since we've had our first kid its been a challenge for us to go out and ride together and we used to ride together once a week back in the good old days. Our are these the good old days? Anyway.. I've ridden Demo before and love that place. We're both fit and she can handle her bike well enough for the rocky terrain down here. Any recommendations are appreciated!

Maybe not exactly what you are looking for, but why not hit Fort Ord? You can hit the trails from the Creekside Terrace area off the Monterey / Salinas Highway, so it is close to Carmel Valley. The somewhat sandy soil improves with some rain. The trees in the wooded areas aren't very tall, but they do get overhead, and it is a pretty fun area.
