Sounds good. Maybe we can go up via Peak Meadow trail instead to mix things up.

Yeah your call on that I wouldn't mind doing something different and be good to have you show me. Also, have a setup like yours with the helmet 1600 lumen and the old one on the bars. Used it last night up sierra and man that sucker is bright and makes the descents so much more tolerable at night. I did see a lot of critters eyes watching me.

I'll meet you at the base on my road bike? Maybe I'll climb up from ohlone and meet you at the top?

I may join this. Never been up Mission Peak.

Please define social. I'm not that fast and really don't want to make everyone wait.

Basically it means no hammering. Come on out it is fun. Seriously we really do go at a very relaxed pace unless there is one or two of us and that isn't very often. These rides we just BS on the way up which makes the climbing more tolerable. It is a great workout and just nice to get out in the dark. The ohlone descent is worth the trip up. Single track sections that are fun and lost of rocky stuff. If anyone needs a light, I have one I will bring you can borrow. It will be enough for this ride. Most of the climb up our lights are off due to moonlight which I think will be up tomorrow. I might arrive early on this ride and make one ascent up at a slow pace then meet the group for the second trip. Not 100% on this plan yet but hopeful.

    OHhhhhhh EARLY GROUP.
This might be doable... still with the time/wife/baby/truck/thing... but the thought of getting crushed on a long boring steep fire road climb again makes me giggle.

Don't listen to these nay sayers! Damm if I have to I will ride my 60lb schwinn up to prove how slow this ride will be. The descent wold suck with a coaster brake that would burn up in a sec however so scrub that plan. Trust me (muhahahahahah) it will be a nice, social, talking pace. Raf does that mean your coming? Don't wuss out. Rho grab your manhood from under the kitchen sink and go! Just kidding buddy, fatherhood comes first (after a kick ass ride with your friends up a steep boring fire road). I bet if I hauled BEER up would more people come?

    I'll see...
Wife wants to make me watch the kid all afternoon after werk.

What time were you planning on getting there for the early wride? Or the late wride?
Assume i am an idiot and have never been there before... How do you get there from 880? Give me a lat/long and i should be ok...

By relaxed pace, expect a 40 to 45 minute climb. Ohlone descent is fun at night but I'll probably be climbing it on my way back home on my bikemute.

But seriously, dont worry about pace. There are some mashers that actually hold off and hang out.

I was planning 7:30 as that gives me time to get home from work and get ready at a leisurely pace. from 880 north, exit mission. continue on mission past 680, then make a right on Stanford Ave which is about 1/2 mile later. Stanford dead ends at the entrance, there is parking there. Many of us park on the last street before the entrance which is vineyard.

Does this ride happen every Wednesday? I can't make it this week, but might be able to next week...

Well, I'm fat and slow too. I think 45 minutes is done using granny gear (22/32) only with the occasional stop at the benches, or maybe I'm totally wrong?

Either way, who cares how long it takes you to get up there? If the hammerheads want to hammer, let them hammer. They'll just get cold waiting.

It was a somewhat regular ride until the cold weather killed it. If you have ridden up Kennedy it is like that.

    Fun ride.
That Peak Meadow -> Horse Heaven Jct trail/segment/whatevah can suck it.

Also, anyone have any light recommendations? A new one is needed.

I have the nightrider 1500 on the bike and a Lupine Piko 3 750. Well, you've seen how bright the lights are....
