MBO - Mountain Bike Oregon roll call
So Randy from MBO is back as a big sponsor of mtbr and he wants to get the Norcal crew back up there this year.
I've been there a couple of times myself and I can vouch for the trails, event and the folks.
Who's going? What's it gonna take to get you there?
Share some photos of past experiences please.

We're not gonna be able to make it, but...man, those are some fun trails! Alpine/Tire Mtn. is a classic. And if you can tack on a day or two to the trip then Dread and Terror and Waldo Lake are sweet trails. Also, try to hit the Brewer's Union pub in town. It'll make you feel like a local!
Nice e-bike! (sorry about your penis)
The broken are the more evolved. Rejoice.

In, and have been looking forward to it since last year, honestly can't say enough about the weekend, F'n epic for sure. Randy's crew does a great job, the trails are fantastic, and the beer is plentiful. Oh, and camping alongside a river, don't know if there's a better combo out there.

MBO sounds pretty fun... planning to do a trip to Oregon sometime soon. I think I'll probably do a trip more along this lines of the trip FC wrote about using Cog Wild (or Oregon Adventures) as a guide... Maybe stay in town, rent a house, and bring the family and relax a few extra days. We'll see.

I'll be there again in August. Such a good time.

Even if you don't make it to MBO, make it to Oakridge a special place. You can spend a week or more riding miles of singletrack all from or within 10 miles of town. Start your day off at Lion Mtn. Bakery, ride till your legs fall off, hit Brewers Union Local 180 for dinner and brew and finish with a stay at the Hostel or elsewhere. Always stop into the Mercantile to get the lowdown on riding, etc...

You paying my way and convincing my wife to give me a hall pass.
I went a couple years ago. It was a blast. I followed Jeff Jones down Lawler and Hardesty, watching him do things I didn't think were possible on a bike.
I couldn't get enough of Alpine Trail. So much fun to just flow for so long.
Brewers Union is great, but beer engine pulled brews are not for everybody.
Great food. Great beers. Great riding.
I also recommend to everybody going, take a couple extra days to check out Bend. 100% worth the trip.

The trails, people and event are great; the camping in a flat field, not so great. Watch out for the local meth heads too. I'll pass this year.

I'd be in for either weekend

Lots in flux right now, but may try and do the August weekend. Enjoyed riding umpqua/Lowell with a DoD member in Feb. such gorgeous trails.

I've never been to MBO but it sounds like fun! I'm likely going to signup for the August one. How many people typically go to this event?
-
I went in Aug last year, had an awesome time despite the fact that Alpine was closed due to fire. I could ride Lawler all day. I'd do Aug again this year, am still negotiating with MsWheels but need to decide soon. If I go I really want to car pool up and camp with some MTBRers, last year I was solo and it was fun but would definitely be better with a group.
Also, consider shelling out for the full Middle Fork ride on Saturday.

We'll be there with a vendor tent and hopefully ride a LOT!
Maybe a night ride...

I'll be there! Last year was amazing. Also I have room for 1-2 more in my car. Leaving Thursday afternoon from SF. If anyone wants in. Drkroedel@gmail.com

I'm rolling up with a posse that includes, but is not limited to, the notorious Snowjunky. We'll be rolling outta the Bay early on Thursday AM, and enjoying pints in town by 5pm. Looking forward to some epic conditions as they received some good rain recently and temps are forecast in the low 80's. Booyaah!

Is anybody camping out up there Thursday night? A friend and I are going up that day but were kind of just winging it. Where does everyone usually stay the night before?
-
You can just stay at Greenwater Park (where MBO is) on Thursday night. I checked in last year around 2:00 PM on Thursday. You can also stay there on Sunday night if you want.

Winnnnnnning beer bikes and buds

Another great MBO. This year I tried to focus a bit more on riding and a bit less on beer. My rides:
Salmon Creek
Lawler
Hardesty
ATCA
Moon Point - Lower Middle Fork
Waldo Lake
Brought some new folks with me this year. We'll all be back next year.
