    Marin Appetite Seminar still running?
Is the old traditional Pine Mtn loop still on this Thanksgiving day?

I heard last year a lot of folks rerouted through Tamarancho to give the creeks at the bottom of Repack a break.

Anyone know the deal this year?

    --Thanks!

The ride is definitely happening! I'll be there. No idea about the route this year, but unless we get tons of rain, the creek will not even be running, yet. I could be wrong. It was dry as a bone last time last time I was there. However, there will be mud up on the ridge.

It's running for sure and they are re-routing around repack again as well. It's BS but was still a lot of fun last year (minus the mud, my gears weren't the same for 6 months).

You ask that as though someone was actually in charge and makes it "happen."

No one makes it happen or not happen. Be there or elsewhere. It's a fact of the season, like the days getting shorter.

    Eehhhxxcellent!!

I was subsumed with Internet-based Apprehension after all the yakkin' last year about habitat destruction and Repack closure.

We'll be there, and we'll be square, or at least well fed and drunked afterwards. :p

Be advised - spoiler alert: Parts of the Pine Mtn Fire Road have been graded (erosion control) I rode the loop just over a week ago. The 2 stout climbs before Pine Mtn Summit were buffed smooth -a skilled rider could get a CX bike up no problem. But the recent rains have probably changed things as the soil is soft. Still, these climbs in the best shape in years.

There is a (new) very large water bar on a fast downhill section just before Smoker's Knoll. With enough speed, you WILL be lofted skyward. Loose landing - I predict carnage here.

Also, the fire road connector to Tamarancho has a fast section with water bars, but there are new ruts, hidden in shade, that are not visible til you're on 'em. Could be nasty if traveling in a peloton.

    Enjoy!

Pine Mtn was firm to peanutbutter yesterday. The predicted 1.5+" of rain between now and Thursday will make the appetite seminar pretty similar to last year.

It didn't taste like peanut butter when I was there . . .

Made the ride. So did this kid. 15 miles of peanut butter. The beer from the Broken Drum ran out when I was next in line.

Sorry 'bout the beer, but glad you got out there RR. What is that, year 38 or something?

That's a lot of muddy trail action! Only a dozen bikes out of the bunch had no brake lever feeling after being flipped upside down during the meal (needs to bleed brakes!)

I'm fairly certain that the river bed is dry at the moment. So I don't see any reason why it shouldn't be open.
