    Mammoth July 4th?

I'm thinking about driving up on the 3rd, biking and fireworks on the 4th, more biking on the 5th and driving home on the 6th ( I have to work on the 7th). I'm eyeballing camping out all 3 nights.

I took the drive to Mammoth last weekend for the first time. I am an inexperienced MTB rider (2nd year), but had a ton of fun. Just FYI the top half of the mountain was still closed due to snow. The shuttle was running so the bottom half was open. I do not know the anticipated open date for the top half, but I would hope that it is open for 4th of July week or sooner.

Having only half the mountain open made the runs pretty short. First run was simply just down the Downtown run. Way too easy and short. Second run took Downtown to Paper Route to Juniper. A lot of fun and the longest run of the day. Third run was
Downtown to Paper Route to Flow to Shotgun. Flow and Shotgun were a blast and probably at my riding limits (and the limits of my hard tail bike).
