    Lotsa Racin' In Humboldt

    Hey NorCal Folks,
    We've got a lot going on this year in Humboldt, including the all new 12 Hours of Weaverville. It's all listed below. Come in join us for some good ol' fashion grass-roots, small time races!

    TEAM BIGFOOT 2004 EVENTS

    June 19: 12 Hours of Weaverville, Weaverville, CA
    This type of endurance event is the fastest growing segment within the sport of mountainbike racing. From 8am to 8pm teams of 4-riders, 2-riders and solos race on a 14 mile dirt course that is an equal mix of fireroad and narrow flume trail on the famed Weaverville Basin Trail System.. Main venue is Trinity High School with real bathrooms, showers and in-town convenience. This event is a benefit for the Weaverville Basin Trail System and for Friday Night Live, an alcohol and drug treatment organization for teens.

    July 16, 17 & 18: Bigfoot Classic #1, Bald Mountain, Arcata, CA
    This classic event has been around since the early days of mountainbiking. This year itís a benefit for the Humboldt County Search & Rescue Team. The courses are epic and challenging. We end the day with a BBQ, Huffy Toss, Wheelie Contest. And donít miss the finale on Sunday...the free mass start downhill from the top of Bald Mountain into the pits, itís wild!     August 28: 12 Hours of Humboldt, Arcata, CA
    This type of endurance event is the fastest growing segment within the sport of mountainbike racing. From 8am to 8pm teams of 4-riders, 2-riders and solos race on an 8 mile course under the giant redwoods of the Arcata Community Forest. Main venue is Redwood Park, right next to Humboldt State University, just 2 minutes from Hwy. 101. In-town convenience. This yearís event is a benefit for the Arcata Forest Fundís effort to purchase a 181-acre parcel addition to the Arcata Community Forest.     September 17, 18 & 19: Bigfoot Classic #2, Arcata, CA.
    Hillclimb Friday, Cross Country Saturday, Downhill Sunday. For the cross country we use a variation of the course used for the 12 Hours of Humboldt, all under the giant redwoods of the Arcata Community Forest. The downhill is on our private DH course that boasts a bunch of drops, jumps (all with safe & sane outs) and some twisty singletrack at the end thatíll have you grinning. This yearís event is a benefit for the Arcata Forest Fundís effort to purchase a 181-acre parcel addition to the Arcata Community Forest.     October 15, 16 &17: Lagrange Fall Classic , Weaverville, CA
    Hillclimb Friday, Cross Country Saturday, Downhill Sunday. It was gone for a few years, but last year we brought it back to rave reviews! The cross-country uses the famed Lagrange Ditch trail singletrack alongside flumes built during the gold-mining days of the 1850ís. The downhill race course is steep, super-fun and lonnnngólast yearís winning expert times were over 9 minutes!     ROAD CRITERIUM
    May 23: Arcata Downtown Criterium

    BICYCLE FUN RIDE
    August 14: Humboldt Hundred
    Presented by the Rotary Club of Arcata, the 100 miler and the 100 kilometer are both beautiful rides under the giant redwoods and along the rocky shores of the North Coast. The 10 and 20 milers are both pancake flat in the farmlands of the Arcata Bottoms. It all starts and ends at the Arcata Community Center. Itís a benefit event for the new Arcata Teen Center.
