Local Hiker threatens to 'booby trap' trails...
If you enjoy your time out in the Scotts Valley area please beware of this guy.
Today he threatened 3 cyclists on a local trail system that he would booby trap the trails because "[mtn] bikers can't "afford" to keep the trails open and that they will get closed off anyway"
I've run into this guy before without conflict (he hikes with a dog).
So if y'all run into this character...just step off to the side, avoid confrontation (if possible) and report any type of 'booby trapping' you may see...
The guy is clearly having a bad day, a little out of whack, definitely hates cyclists....and does not realize the trails he is on are multiuse.
Actually, you should contact your local LEOs. Threatening to set booby traps with the potential to harm or worse is, oh, how shall we say, illegal and may be menacing in most jurisdictions.
No matter how slow you go, you are still lapping everyone on the couch.
Thanks for the heads up. I was just out there on Saturday for the first time in months. Perfect dirt and nice new trail that goes around the perimeter of the Sand Hill.
Wow. Hopefully this does not escalate. I've hiked and ridden that area for years without conflicts, even having some pretty cool encounters with joggers, cyclists with dogs, a woman riding her horse uphill accompanied by a guy jogging. All of us have shared the stoke of sharing this beautiful area. What's ironic is dogs are the likeliest target of enforcement in this area. I've taken heat from rangers over being even a few feet off a trail with my leashed dog.
i ride here all the time & it's actually closed to everyone (except bear mt. where bikes are allowed). so he's just as much guilt being out there in the first place. i won't stand for some ******* to even threaten "booby trapping" anything & if i catch someone doing it... it's a trail side beat down, i don't care & i won't hesitate.
just the other month Wild Bill caught some pile out in ashland, i'm sure some of you guys read the article on pb. people like this are out to get us for some reason. i don't set booby traps for their dogs that **** everywhere. just sayn. i feel better now. thanks for this post & the heads up. i'll do my best to keep the peace.
hooray to Chum, for pulling out his phone(?) and snapping a photo of the perp! I see so many complaints on mtbr about "bad apples", but just descriptions, no pix. Good job Chumley

I am against anyone who would want to trap boobies. I say let them hang free (as long as they are young and perky). On second thought, old boobies should probably be trapped in some kind of container or cup device.
Consciousness, that annoying time between bike rides.

Be careful out there
this picture and description needs to go viral. A little embarrassment could be just what the DR ordered!
Stupid, but sometimes witty. Occasionally brilliant. Slow and fat though.
He thinks he is famous as he reads this. He is a joke. I hope he runs into me at night. So not scared or threatened by people like this. I keep to myself, avoid confrontation and people still act like children by yelling and threatening. Sorry, I am on a dirt path. This guy is a trouble maker for sure. Have a fun life. I know I will, no matter which trail I am on. Riding bikes is AWESOME! I plan on doing it for 50 more years, so I hope these clowns are up for the long fight. HAHAHA. See YOU on the trail.
