Best workaround is to get an Android phone.

Nope. SOL. The whole purpose of this thread is to check out a photo that was just posted and realize that right now, that dude/dudette is out riding where that picture was taken. If you post it the next day it's just another photo taken with a cell phone. BTW, anyone who lives in Downieville is not going to get much sympathy about cell phone coverage on an mtb forum.

Blackberry? Isn't that the phone Michael Douglas had in Wall Street?

No, that was supposed to be a "father's day - meet the wives" at Muir Beach ride but forecast was for 20+mph winds so we opted for a pine mountain ride and met the families at Lake Lagunitas instead. Yesterday was a "shock is back at fox for warranty repair, so go on a long xc ride" ride. Double Tam - Out and back to Muir Beach from Ross.

Yep, just up from the creekside parking lot.

Every time I see some kind of bee warning, it takes me back to one time when Toro Park got hit with a swarm of bees durning one of the cccx dh races. Everyone scattered except for Shawn Siebe who came walking down waving his arms and yelling "bees! BEES!".

Thanks, I;ve been pretty happy with it. It's an android phone with 8Mp, but they get scaled down through Tapatalk. I rooted my Inspire and installed CyanogenMod 7 on it. The camera app in CyanogenMod has exposure compensation, white balance, etc. I can't remember what features the stock camera had, but one thing it had that Cyanogenmod doesn't have is touch focus. Hoping a later version adds it.

I'm such a noob at MTB that the urban streets are my trails at the moment. Not a big deal, I'll "graduate" to real trails in time.

    I'm sitting at...

    Because of...

...yep, 3 flat tires and a 4 month old who is going to wake up soon.

Side note: you guys have youngins? Mine falls asleep with out fail Every time we start riding.

those were pictures from yesterday actually, my phone died and I didn't bother to charge it until today
only made a quick trip, just kind of goofed off, from the little lot on bernal down to the golf course... it was so hot and the rents needed the minivan I borrowed for the late afternoon/evening (I have a 99 civic hatch, far too small for this bike).
I ended up just going to the Calabazas bike park to work on getting more comfortable on the bike going down steep stuff... All i've done since last winter is be lazy so I really need to just ride more

It was one of the hardest things I've ever done. Rewarding I guess, but that Mill Creek Road climb kicked the piss out of me!

We used to use that for our evening "Mission to Mars" Ride when people wanted to climb up, and up, and up, and..well, you got the point of it. http://www.ebparks.org/parks/garin#trailmap

Like people have said, watch it out on that section of trails, it's all exposed with pretty much zero chance at shade. Definitely would have been one to consider today starting out around 7-8am if I still had any geared bikes around. Better yet, just have someone drop you off at the dorms @CSUEB and string everything together and end up at the Dry Creek exit down by Decoto.

*How many goathead thorn pieces did you get stuck picking out?

They are killer tires. Good in every way IMO. 29er tires are pricy too. No more quick road rides after work with the wife. I'm ready for boggs now.

I'm having trouble putting together a route from Mill Creek Road (up and up and up) to Decoto. The only way I found was to end up and the top of Ohlone ( by the pool). By the way, That Mill Creek climb is straight up ridiculous.

    No thorns. Thank god.

LOL, true on Mill Climb, I gave up on that as well as gears long ago. As far as Decoto, yeah, autocomplete sucks, I typed out the info for the ride over here as an alternate ride to try out but it all got chopped down.

~IOW I still need to figure out the posting via iPhone.

Another topic, when was the last time anybody checked out Sheridan Road on the Sunol side?

S/X, I think that Obi confused Mill Creek Rd by Mission Peak with Dry Creek park. Since you're in Fremont, you have 3 local options: 1) climbing up Misison Peak (brutal climb as you found out, but a good workout), 2) Coyote Hills (nothing really exciting) and 3) Dry Creek/Garin which runs north south from Mission Blvd @ Decoto all the way up to Cal State East Bay (nothing really exciting and the trails are a bit destroyed by the cattle but cool views from the top, good local ride after work).

Welcome to the Fremontucker riding club.

OK, how did you make/upload that Google map? Did the app do it or did make it "manually"?
