Lessons & clinics @ Northstar Bike Academy
Growing up skiing I took a couple lessons at resorts and they were a little helpful, granted experience trumped all - I'm wondering if it'd be worth it to attend a clinic or lesson up at Northstar this season to improve my biking game? I was looking at the intermediate/advanced clinic in particular - anyone given these a try?
I took an intermediate/advanced group clinic at N* two seasons ago. It was OK, ISTR it was pretty cheap ($35?) so it wasn't a bad value for a few hours.
small class size
My two criticisms of it would be:
I got some advice on handling drops that was orthogonal to what McCormack/Lopes teach in their book _ Mastering Mountain Bike Skills_, and that confused me a lot.
The instructor rode first on the trails, so he wasn't watching students ride to offer anything specific to their riding.
I just might have hit a teacher on an off day.
I'd say: take it if it is still cheap, don't expect miracles.
