Last minute - Is there riding in Big Sur?

I am camping there this weekend and wonder if I should bring my bike. Staying at Julia Pfeiffer Camp Ground and won't be able to drive to the awesomeness of Toro (or much anywhere that sucks time). Even fire road will suffice but anyone have luck riding there? PM me if you want to tell me about some secret/poach ready trails.

    Happy Friday all...

Yes there is, the problem is that it is not yet allowed.

Yeah, it's unfortunate. I'm pretty sure Coast Ridge Rd. is the only legal riding, but it can get you here: Cone Peak I've backpacked it and spent the night on the fire lookout on top of Cone Peak. We got denied on our first attempt one spring break because of knee-high snow. It's a pretty rad spot. Pfeiffer has some good hiking trails though (including a big day hike to some hot springs).

I could turn you on to some currently undocumented trails, but they're farther south. Have fun.

    Why?

Because we like the taste of freedom; because we like the smell of danger. ~ E. Abbey

Fire road is all there is, legally, and not much of that. There's a bike legal route at Andrew Molera State park, and there's the Old Coast Road, which also happens to have one end at Andrew Molera. I've seen photos of the latter; it's pretty scenic.

Trails found...pretty rad. If they opened some of these up, Big Sur could be a destination playground for bikers.

Try searching on Little Sur Trail...it is off the Old Coast Rd. I have no idea on the condition since it has been 7-8 years since I rode it. It's legal as well.

I haven't ridden it, but Prewitt Ridge Loop further to the south offers legal mountain biking. Something like 15 miles I think.
