Due to illness I will not be riding tomorrow and Jim is out of town. If you want to ride I think the Saddle Dam to the Visitor’s Center is the least muddy. Someone will need to respond to all to set up a ride.

The rain is forecast to end late tomorrow, there is a 50% chance of rain in the evening, sun sets at 7:40

I will see y’all out on Thursday.

I've never ridden Oroville trails, but I've done lots of biking in upper Bidwell park in Chico and want to check out some other scenery. Do you guys have scheduled rides, and are they open to newcomers? I have a friend that works in City Hall there that wants to check out the local trails also.

There are a few groups here that ride regularly. I can only speak about one group that rides every Mondday and Thursday evening. We usually start at 6 PM and do a one to two hour ride, we meet at different locations and travel different rides.
For these rides I post the meeting place and time, I post here and at LOBO (Lake Oroville Bucycle Organization) I also have a e-mail group that I send info to. If you want to provide your e-mail address I will add you to the group. I just send the info and we ride with who ever shows up. No obligation to ride or answer the e-mail.
There are aother groups that ride sometimes with this group and ususlly they ride on Tuesdays and I think on Saturdays as well, I would call them advanced riders.
Everyone is welcome, a helmet is required and we always ride with who shows up. The Monday and Thursday group rides year around, we ride the trails at night in the winter and in the rain. Right now we are heading into the best times.
If you want additional info you can call me at 533-3575

I am riding the North Fork trail tomorrow morning. I plan to leave from the far side of the top of the Dam at 9 AM. You can park in the cul-de-sac, I've got a pass so I will be in the spillway parking lot at the trail head.

Had a good ride Monday evening on the North Fork. Look forward to more rides, y’all have a good one.

Let’s ride the Burma Road way out then cut up and over to the falls. Jim sez’ let’s meet at 6 PM. This will be a longer ride so we can meet at the gravel parking just past the first bridge on the left on Cherokee Road.

See below, a slight chance of showers (probably our last chance for precip until we start the night rides in November), sun sets at 8:07. We can discuss parking at the meeting place, if we think we can make it maybe we can park at the diversion pool access.

So, 6 PM at the gravel parking on Cherokee Road just past the first bridge.

Same Bat Cave, same Bat Location just a different day. Meet at the gravel parking on the left just past the first bridge on Cherokee Road at 6 PM. We will ride way out the Burma Road then cut up to the falls and back via the trails on the hillside.

We have not done the Visitor’s Center loop for awhile and we have not done the Loafer Horseshoe loop for awhile. Might I suggest we do the Visitor Center tomorrow evening and consider loafer Creek area for Monday?

Let’s meet at the parking lot just above the restrooms at the top of the Dam and head up to the Visitor Center, down the long way to the Marina, take the high route to the Saddle Dam and than back via the lower trail and a mini Grand Canyon (if not underwater) back to the Marina. Last but certainly not least let’s do the Man Way up and back.

See you at 6 pm tomorrow.

Sunday coming out of Potters, Lots of squirrels on the trail that day but they all scooted off, except for the last one. He just sat there on the side of the trail watching me approach, then at the last possible moment he darted across the trail and under my front wheel. Hit the frame and my leg, then finally took off back the way he came. Great fun!

    question about North Fork:
I thought from the maps that it is a simple out and back, but ~3 miles or so after Cut Across I ran into a split in the trail. Turned around and didn't explore further, but where do the two forks lead? Is there an updated map that shows the latest additions?

    North Fork

Not sure about a map update, they have been working on the trail. I have not been out to the end for awhile but I hear it is all the way through to the camp.

Not sure where you hit the split I assume it was a sharp right turn that crossed a rocky creek bed that is dry right now. That is where you can go straight or make the 108 degree right. Make the right, cross the dry rocky creek bed and continue on I suspect it is another 6 or 7 miles.

    Thursday Ride

Let’s meet at the Saddle Dam tomorrow at 6 PM. We can opt for a couple destinations.

Remember, the person that said nothing is impossible never tried to slam a revolving door.

Cooler tomorrow, high 96 so bring your coats.

    Mike
