    Lake Cunningham opening?

Anyone have any info? Their Facebook group isn't answering requests for this info as far as I can tell and internet searches don't bring up much. I walked the fence a few weeks ago and it looks amazing

So I talked to one of the trail builders. Sounds like cunningham is delayed again. Something about the city not signing off on it.

How does that even happen? They build out the entire thing, presumably with bureaucratic permission, and then can't open it?

Maybe it was funded in the Obama era and the current administration wants to reassess the situation.

Stopped by to check it out as Lake Cunningham was the southern terminus for Viva Calle SJ on Sunday. We heard from another cyclist that they had held a ribbon cutting that morning but the park itself still wasn't open. According to the rangers we spoke with there is some contract issue between the builder and the City that needs to be resolved. The rangers did not know when it would open but were hoping that it would be by the end of the year.

I guess the silence means it's still not open. Any news?

According to their Facebook page they were hoping for a soft opening in the next couple of months. That was on Nov 17.

From the comments on facebook I got that it's rideable now. Why wait the entire winter?

Doubt it. There seems to be a lot of rangers and workers there. The skate park looks fun to ride though.
