A tire needs to supple and compliant and conform to the rocks to have good rolling resistance on rough surfaces.

I used to ride with 60 psi to go fast. Now I ride.... 22 psi most of the time (tubeless). More control and more traction too.

As far as traction is concerned, yes that's an issue on this climb too. Less is more.

Thanks for the advice. I gave 45 psi a try on the Virl O Norton ("Mockingbird Wall") trail in Quicksilver yesterday and found that I spent so much effort fighting to either keep traction on the rear wheel or keep my front tire down that it slowed me down quite a bit. I'l stick with 30 on Saturday

Planning to make it, still cant decide plastic vs. metal.

BTW, you may get more rsponses if you will post on the last page
Speaking of which, would be cool to have option to jump to the last page right from the main forum page.

Ahh, I never knew that since I'm using linear mode viewing. The latest post is always the last post.

    I'll repost and fix.

To get on the last page from the main page click on the arrow beside the last poster's name. See photo

I'll skip the ride up the hill, with lot of sadness (yeah right), but Marco will be doing it for the family good name (go daddy go)!
The girls and I will be waiting for the post ride party (yayyy!).
How about Tiramisu' (in english is 'pick me up' and I think is appropriate for the ride you will be doing!) ...? or some other dessert
Is it the same park as last year? it was a very nice place!

    Hey all,
I'm new here on the board, but I live close to the trailhead and I've ridden the trail the last two weekends, so why not make it three in a row. See you in the morning.
I'm no ringer by the way, I'll be in the slow group.

When should the timing volunteers show up at the trail head?

8:15 at the trailhead - since you're getting there early, you'll get one of the limited parking spots...

Need some timing help for Kennedy, Sat Sept. 6

We can always head downtown, grab some burgers at Main Street, then takeover Plaza Park. We can even clean our bikes/bodies in the fountains there!

I'd suggest parking near this spot - there's parking along the side of Kennedy or any of the side streets.

    http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=e...=UTF8&t=h&z=17

Then its a 15-20 minute ride up Kennedy to the trailhead (10 if you're fast and pushing it). That will make a good warm-up before the actual hillclimb.

Please plan on getting there ~10 minutes before your wave. We're going to try and start them at these times on the nose - any stragglers will just have to wait...
9:00 - "slower" riders 45-60+ minute expected climb times
9:15 - "standard" riders - 30-45 minutes expected climb times
9:30 - "King" riders: 30 minute or lower ride times

If you're not a "King" rider, and show up at 9:14, we'll probably have you start just after the contenders, so you won't get in the way of the mass start.

    I'm in!

I'll ride - just so nobody has to worry about being last.

I'll be slow enough it's hard to say if I'm a spectator or participant.

I'll probably start at 8:30 so I can be at the top when the kings roll in.
It's not slow, it's doing more MTB time.
