The International Mountain Bicycling Association is coming to New Almaden,
California, and you're invited to join in the special events. Subaru/IMBA
Trail Care Crew leaders, Nat and Rachael Lopes, will be hosted by the
Responsible Organized Mountain Pedalers (ROMP), Team Wrongway, Santa Clara
Parks and Recreation and FOX for a weekend of talking trails.
This visit features an IMBA slideshow, and IMBA Trailbuilding School,
trailwork and a group ride. All events are FREE! This is your opportunity
to rub shoulders with the IMBA crew while learning all about trailbuilding.

7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Trails Forever slideshow
Come mingle with fellow riders and trail users and learn about IMBA's work
around the world. IMBA's Nat and Rachael Lopes will present a fun and
exciting multimedia presentation about riding and travel adventures in the
U.S., Italy, Wales, Australia, and beyond.
New Almaden Quicksilver Mining Museum in historical La Casa Grande
21350 Almaden Road, New Almaden, CA
[From Highway 85 take the Almaden Expressway exit south 4.5 miles to Almaden
Road. Turn right and proceed 2.5 miles west to the town of New Almaden. La
Casa Grande will be on your left.]
SATURDAY, JANUARY 29
9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. IMBA Trailbuilding School
Get your hands dirty and learn how to build sustainable and fun singletrack.
The school includes three hours of classroom instruction followed by
hands-on time in the field learning trailbuilding techniques. Topics include
designing a contour trail, controlling water flow, building effective trail
structures, and routine trail maintenance.
The fieldwork will be hands-on trailbuilding, so come prepared. You'll
probably be most comfortable in long pants and a long-sleeved shirt. Wear
sturdy shoes and bring water, snacks, work gloves, sunscreen, and a hat. If
you have any trailbuilding tools--pulaskis, McLeods, rakes, picks, hoes,
shovels--please bring them, too.

Carpool to Santa Teresa County Park's Stile Ranch Trail staging area
[From San Jose, follow Almaden Expressway until it ends. Turn right onto
Harry Road, then turn left onto McKean Road. Travel approximately 1.3 miles
to Fortini Road. Turn left onto Fortini Road toward the Santa Teresa Hills.
At the end of Fortini Road, turn left onto San Vicente Avenue.]
SUNDAY, JANUARY 30
9:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Trailwork
Meet at Santa Teresa County Park's Stile Ranch Trail.
Food and drink will be provided for volunteers courtesy of the Santa Clara
County Parks and Rec.
3:00 p.m. Group ride (weather permitting)
