Grass Valley rides
I will be visting this area in early/mid June from Colorado and am looking for info on rides. I am more the "cross country" type and love to climb, but also enjoy the downs and want to see what my new Jet RDO can do.
Thanks in advance for any info

At an average velocity of 94mph.

You're turning black metallic.

Great riding in and around Malakoff Diggings. Rim trail, Missouri Bar, North Yuba, bunches of fun.

Grass Valley / Nevada City have a lot of great riding but much of it is local knowledge. I might be able to play tour guide, PM me.

Another good strategy would be to visit Tour of Nevada City Bike Shop for some local knowledge and maps. The way you describe your riding preferences you are going to have way more possibilities for fun in the area than you'll ever have time for =D

Here is a guide to some of the rides in the area. It was written and maintained by John Fishman.

Don't miss Forest City, I would be glad to show you around up there, it is between Nevada City and Downieville. PM me if interested.

Does Fish still have his titanium Epic? I used to drool over that back in 94 when I lived in GV/NC.
There are so many great local rides, I sure miss doing parts of Pioneer. Heck, even Empire State Park was OK back then.
Sure curious about the area now. Been almost twenty years since I have ridden locally!

As someone who has made the drive between Grass Valley/Downieville many times, I've learned to always accomodate for slower moving traffic. Thus in most cases, it is a full hour or more to make the drive.
