Well, you "could", but I wouldn't. It's some pretty tough dirt roads from Robinson Flat to Serene Lakes, 25 miles worth. I have done it on my cross bike, not much fun. Better on a 29" hardtail.
Only the curious have something to find.

it has allegedly been done, but the start and end points are both off limits to bikes. depending on your fitness, the only extended hike a bike is from swinging bridge to devils thumb. that took me about 25 minutes during the tahoe sierra 100.
something about the west coast...it makes me wanna ride

25 minutes! Did you run? Awesome. Took me something like 55 during TS100.

haha, a dirt bike would have been great. i toyed with the idea of stashing running shoes. Greg Golet ran some (maybe all?) of it and finished well ahead of me.
