    Eldridge Grade Sabotage

Came across this piece of rebar pounded down right in the center of the tire line on Eldridge Grade (below the Northside Trial entry)...took a bit of pulling on it but it came up.

Be careful out there, it seems as though MV (or his ilk) is now focusing on areas beyond his own backyard?

I would have informed Mr Ranger and let them remove it.

Around Mt Tam, it's the HOHAs. Hateful Old Hikers Association.

Someone put up bobby traps on Hoo-koo-e-koo, but that was over 15 years ago. I won't say what was used, but it gave my friend two flat tires on fairly fast section.

You would really leave a boobytrap in place? How about remove it and forward the photos to the rangers?

Calm down, not sabotage. Just an ancient piece of rebar. Was commonly used on trails long before bikes were. We used plenty of it in Tamarancho. There's enough of REAL drama to worry about. (by the age of your camelbak, I'm thinking you've been at this for awhile, and should know this

Doubt that is a booby trap.

A great many years ago E-Grade had water bars placed on it to maintain the trail. Super cool ones. 2x8 pressure treated planks sunk into the ground and anchored in place with rebar and a thick piece of rubber across the top to allow a bike to roll over. They worked really well, took a ton of work to install, and lasted about 2 seasons at the most.

That's just old rebar coming out of an eroding trail, not "sabotage" - geez! You find those on trails all over the place.

edit: a big thumbs up for removing it, most don't bother trying to tackle a hard but needed task like that!!

Funny, I have the same camel bak with the Rancho pass in the same location. I even have the same valve on my tube. Did I post this after smoking a bowl and forget?
