    ECDM trailwork 5/20, 6/3, 7/15 @9:30AM

    ECDM Trail Work
    09:30 AM Saturday, May 20 2006 Duration: 6 hours
We are working with MROSD to set up some ROMP/MROSD trail work dates to build and or maintain trail for Methuselah or Giant Salamander on May 20th. We will have additional dates on June 3, and July 15. In June we will be working with the Bay Area Ridge Trail as well.

These are great events limited to 12 volunteers. You get to work hands on with the pros, and are terrific learning experiences. Last year we started a major armoring project on the reroute of Giant Salamander. It involved some pretty cool Rock transportation using ropes and guernies.

Other projects will include El Corte de Madera creek trail, and these will result in hopefully only temporary closures this summer. They staff a number of Open Space Technicians who build and maintain trail as well. Craig Beckman and his team do a terrific job.

If you are interested in volunteering for the above please email Paul McKowan at volunteer@openspace.org.

    7 More

We need 7 more volunteers, to help us drink coffee and eat fatty snacks, oh and dig in the dirt a bit.

    Watershed Protection

Just so that you know, El Corte De Madera Creek trail and Giant Salamander are going to be closed later this year, July or August depending on permitting, and one or the other possibly all next summer until the reroutes have a chance to harden up.

The whole park almost got closed completely, but thanks to Paul Nam and ROMP, we still get to ride here. We need to continue to show our good faith by showing up and building and maintaining these trails.

Check out the link above to read more about the watershed protection program, and how it will effect ECDM this year.

    four more

We could use three or four more volunteers at ECDM this Saturday. Looks like a good option while resting between MBTB events
