# Thread: Downieville Classic #15 - update

1. ## Downieville Classic #15 - update

Ah yes, it’s that time of year again. The race to get into the race. On-line registration for the Downieville Classic All-Mountain and Cross Country categories will be opening this Friday, February 19th at 8:00pm. We will post specific url links for each event that will take you to Active.com, so be sure you are entering the correct event. It is helpful to already have an account set-up with Active.com before attempting to register. This is important, because like I said, navigating through the registration process quickly and accurately can mean the difference of winning or losing-out on an entry into the race.

A little fair warning to all our "friends" that don't get in, both mine and Wayno's phones will be turned off. Good luck to everyone, and remember, even if you don't get into the All-Mountain event, the Cross Country race is an epic adventure not to be missed. Plus without the worry of racing the Downieville Downhill, you get to party with The Saddle Tramps on Saturday night.

On another related note: It's good to have the folks from Santa Cruz Bicycles back as Title Sponsor. Already the positive affects of this partnership are being felt throughout our surrounding trail system. In addition to their sponsorship of the Downieville Classic, Santa Cruz Bicycles is stepping up it's support of the Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship (SBTS) by providing cash contributions to subsidize volunteer trail work programs and to purchase tools and equipment. All funds provided by Santa Cruz Bicycles will be utilized as an in-kind match, allowing SBTS grant writers to leverage, sometimes as much as 1500%, additional trail maintenance and construction funds. A dynamic partnership that ultimately results in a trail system that is sustainable and accessible to mountain bikers for generations.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT!

For this alone you should be canonized. Thank you, Good Sir!

3. At this point the race entry should just go to an auction format. Use the proceeds to support the Buttes Stewardship

After doing this race 4 time consecutively I haven't even bothered the last 3 years. The race for a spot is not worth it. Better to go up on a non-race weekend and enjoy a cabin in town without all the hubub

WTF

5. WTF is the Passcode?

6. Yeah ... even the XC says that. Strange. Anyone have an Active account seeing the same thing?

7. same here...

(It is mandatory to have a passcode in order to sign up for this event now)

argh!

ditto. suck balls!

12. Sounds like everyone has a fair shot at registration, but some people have a fairer shot than we do.

sounds like ********.

14. Passcode is blue balls.

15. looks like the AM has no password requirement initially but then when you get to page 3 it says you need one. XC just has this red letter password required thingy

16. Passcode is passcode??? WTF!!!

17. stuck too....

18. Active.com blows. WTF is this?! Stuck on passcode.

19. WTF is going on?!? What is this !@#$%^&* password?!? We scheduled our whole night around this registration, the hell?!? ARGH 20. urgh 21. LOL redonculous 22. bogus - does the pw requirement mean it's already sold out? i was in at 7:59 and got the pw req'd ... sucky 23. The scale of this F-up is off the charts. 24. I just signed up for every magazine subscription and got through. 25. lol At this point, reg date needs to be changed. This is BS. 26. Well, at this point...Yuba had just better reset the registration date a few days or a week from now to reset the "race" for registration to be fair for everyone, because this obviously sucks. Hopefully it is just something that Active.com messed up. I experienced something like this once before when I was competing in Freeskiing events. Registration got jacked up like this, and to make it fair for everyone, they apologized and moved the registration back a week to give everyone a fair chance of getting in again. 27. Originally Posted by the.vault I just signed up for every magazine subscription and got through. what did you enter for passcode? 32. yup - now the classes are mostly "FULL" on the first page ... total bull donkey 33. f@ckin A that was stressful. IN for pro men, but I have to agree with Felton Flyer. This is not the time or place for rants, but there will be a lot of unhappy people thanks to this stunt, though probably no less or more than without a "passcode". 34. Sweet I got in Expert Women < 34 35. "Attention! Registration limit check failed for desired events" 36. ## anyone get in for xc? trailstewardship did not work 37. Active.com member. Thought it would speed registration....but then asking for PASSWORD. Typed in my Active.com password. My old password, my wife's password, my neighbors password. I asked my kids their password, but......arrgggg! NOTHING! I guess I get Sunday off to watch instead of race. 40. same here, MrCrash. i was hitting refresh on this page and jetted over as soon as i had the passcode... but no luck. super lame. 41. Didn't work for me. Any other ideas on the password?? 42. Originally Posted by BikeWente trailstewardship is the passcode (all caps rant) 43. I got in with "trailstewardship", but the registration needs to be REDONE. 45. This is ********. Can't register because of some pathetic passcode hold up. 46. We should just rename this thread to the "Bash the hell out of Dville, for the gayest stunt ever" .. So I wonder who the lucky person was that knew the passcode and let it out to every one?? anyways.. In for All mountain Junior Expert.. 47. Something's f*cked. 48. Congratulations! You are now registered for DOWNIEVILLE CLASSIC ALL-MOUNTAIN WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS July 10-11, 2010. Please check the event's official website for updates: http://www.downievilleclassic.com sweet! password stuff was a major fubar. I have a huge sense of guilt for being one of the lucky ones.. 49. Perhaps BikeWente can enlighten us as to who provided him/her the code? Originally Posted by BikeWente trailstewardship is the passcode 50. 63. BIG Group ride up 3rd divide July 10-11th anyone in...no passcode required

64. got in for the XC. Passcode box is suddenly gone.

65. They probably wanted to do it invitation only, but couldn't because of some legality. This was their workaround.

That's a good idea - critical mass style! crash it with last years # plates

67. Yeah, I don't see this holding water. They're going to have to re-do the registration thing. All you that got in, don't get too comfortable yet.

68. Before registration opened on active.com it said on the XC page that it opened at 9, not 8. Maybe the problems will be cleared up at 9.

69. ## Thread of the year

LOL! Thread of the year: Hopeful anticipation to lynch mob in record time.

70. I see Yuba Man logged on. Surprised he hasn't chimed in yet with an explanation.

72. "good luck to everyone"

I sure hope this isn't the way this classic race turns out...you better sign up for 12 mile in Ashland before they come up with some criptic passcode for next year.

73. Add me to the list of grumpy DVille regulars, sure wish I could register for XC...

I think you're looking at the day of the race....

75. I vote for jumping in the race about 1/2 mile up the hill.

Look out for plate #666! No prisoners!!! Death to Yuba Expeditions!

This debacle makes me want to pull out some water bars and lock my rear wheel down the whole trail!

Trail stewardship my ass!

77. Working now

78. Just got in. Keep refreshing.....no kidding.

79. I got in thanks to Ames spilling the beans. But that was so absurd that I want to know if everybody's outrage will actually result in loss attendance. If you are seriously pissed at them, then why keep trying to register. Put your pocketbook where your mouth is and don't support the event.

80. another response from Yuba:

"Yes we have had problems with active and are trying to get it fixed. There is no passcode! Please keep trying.
Heather"

81. Love how the event now has 52 reviews and the rating is sinking faster than a rock.

82. XC code is "santacruz"

83. Got into the XC. trailstewardship worked as the password this time for some reason.

84. password removed for xc now... I'll pass... sux.

85. ## Everybody Just Chill

This is an active.com error!

Just spoke with a reliable source, they are working with active.com right now to fix the problem. Update will come when there is news to report.

CHILL!! They are working on the problem.

86. 4yrs of XC with a different debacle for the AM class too fvcking lame! W@yno ! Yuba man! You listening? Shenanigans!!!!!!

and yuba offcially sucks my balls!

88. Well, the XC initial page still SAYS password required but there was no prompt. Signed up for 35-44 XC Beginner.

89. i like how everyone is now posting the random passwords that they were guessing for XC, when in reality anything would have worked because they just happened to remove the password validation at that moment. but yeah, points to all for creativity.

90. I got a fuggin headache!

Creampuff is the same date....get your ass up to Oregon.

"sierrabuttes" worked for me

I figured it was something like that. But I did get into the XC with "santacruz"

95. Thanks for making things right, Yuba

96. ## Might regret registering

I got in XC with a password someone passed on to me but it seems anything is working now. But by the time the password requirement was lifted, it was too late for my husband to get into All Mtn. I hope this is an honest mistake and not an unannounced exclusivity. I'll wait to get the full story before judging.

Looking forward to round two 98. in for XC - but that was ugly! wish we had a fair shot at the AM ... disappointing 99. Originally Posted by badjenny This is an active.com error! I CANCELLED MY OUTING WITH THE WIFE AND RESIGNED BOTH OF US TO TRYING TO GET IN TO THIS RACE. NOT TO MENTION THE FRIENDS OF MINE TRYING TO DO THE SAME. WE HAVE BEEN SET UP SINCE 6PM MAKING SURE OUR ACCOUNTS WERE READY TO GO, CREDIT CARDS IN HAND AND ETC. UNLESS YUBA MAKES THIS RIGHT, REFUNDS MY$$ FOR THE XC ENTRY (ONLY ACCESSIBLE VIA A SECRET CODE) AND CONVERTS MY ENTRY TO AN ALL MOUNTAIN ENTRY - I WILL CONTINUE MY ALL CAPS RANT!!!!!!'

FVCK!!!!!

100. Sorry but I can't just bail on the Downieville Classic because of their or Active.com's ineptitude. If the AM was rigged with a password intentionally, then I'd probably be pissed enough to bail on the XC but the AM just means nothing to me really.

I still hope they re-do the AM registration just to be fair to everyone who thought they had a chance. If not then this race has probably seen the height of its existence.
