Up to 119 people now. Weather will be perfect. Still no plans this weekend? It's not too late to sign up.

8 hour solo and 24 hour solo/duo = suffering regardless of weather, venue, gears, no gears... dog bless 'em.

8 hour duo and 24 hour 4-5 person teams = fun

I'm looking forward to seeing MTBR friends there, and meeting new friends!

Joe McKeen all smiles on his way to the 8hr SS win last year:

It is for a good cause if you are worried about $$ to race. I know personally that the battle against cancer is brutal and anything that can be done to help fight the battle is a worthy cause. This is money well spent and you will have a blast at the same time. And let me tell you, if riding through the photos at the Miracle Mile portion of the race doesn't choke you up I don't know what will. That is what it is all about. My daughters pic will be there this year.

PBR has electrolytes, and electrolytes are what bikers crave.

I'll be there for 8 hour support and searching out bigbouder and PBR between pit stops.

Hey, who is going to provide support to bigboulder? It's not easy handing out/drinking that volume of PBR... I may provide support to his support.

Coolest 2014 was fun! Thanks to the high school 24 hour teams, attendance was respectable, but I sure missed seeing many of you out there. I'm not a loopty-loopty-loopty kinda guy, but that course is actually really fun, with just the right amount of everything thrown in.

The kick-off was as emotional as it gets, with MTBR's Zon receiving the Bryce Clark Courage Award for his daughter, Mikaela, who we all hoped would be there (again), but sadly succumbed to her battle with cancer last month. Zon pulled off 14 laps to win the solo 60+ men's category. He had no shortage of inspiration and I was honored to ride with him for a while during one of my laps.

I gave Zon's daughter's Memory Mile photo a tap on each of my 4 laps. It made whatever fatigue I was feeling disappear instantaneously.

All in all, a good day was had (for us 8 hour riders). A report from the 24 hour crew was one of our high school guys threw down the fastest lap of the whole 24 hours on his 7th and final lap (44:30!).

24 hour races may be unpopular these days, but don't mention that to those that battled and had a blast doing it! The biking part of these events is fun and hard, but the socializing and screwing around with your buddies all day/night is what makes them so much fun. It'll be interesting to see if they will continue to be offered. I hope they will.

    Coolest 8/24HR - Who's going???

Racers were greeted by this latex beauty out on the race course late at night. She moved around to random places throughout the night. I don't know who put it out there but I don't think that it's a big surprise that at race end she was in the pits of a 5 man team sponsored by a local brewery (and they had the beer consumption to fit that sponsorship).

I was up all night pitting for Zon. 14 hrs of sleep and I'm starting to feel normal again. I pity everybody that had to go to work today.

I really hope this great event will be moved to April or May next year. Too hot in June ! Rain is hardly ever an issue late April early may !

Haha... you must not have been there in 2009 (May 2nd). A friggin' legendary monsoon changed the face of Coolest forever!

But based on the popularity of this race with the high school teams that have made it the past 2 years, I'm going to lobby Jimmy to try and get it on the calendar May 30/31, 2015... a couple of weeks after State Championships.

That was absolutely epic. First and only time the race was called early due to weather. I am so glad I had my SS that day.

That'll be the same date as the Lost & Found 100 mile Gravel Race next year....they already got the permits and booked the dates for next year. Just FYI.
