    coal creek to skyline

Has anyone used Coal Creek OSP to connect from Alpine Road down in the lowland section of the park up to Skyline/35? Looks like there is a trail head at Alpine Road to enter the park, and something called Crazy Pete's Road that could lead up to Skyline.

Also trying to figure out if this is something that could be done on a roadie or a cyclo-crossish bike. Thanks

I use Meadow and Clouds Rest to get to Skyline from dirt Alpine through Coal Creek. I am coming from the top though(Page Mill). Puts you right across the street from Russian Ridge entrance.

Meadow, clouds rest, and crazy petes are all essentially moderately steep fire roads that connect down to alpine road. I regularly take my cross bike down all of them. None are particularly interesting, but make for nice loops when combining with Russian ridge to minimize time on the road.

You could ride it this way. However, IMHO, "Crazy Pete's Road" is best done as a downhill. My preferred loop is to ride up Dirt Alpine all the way to the end (Page Mill Road), then ride that up to Highway 35, then along 35 (or through Russian Ridge) to Crazy Pete's, and then down this back to Dirt Alpine.

I hiked there this weekend to check it out. Interesting little park and was surprised to see close to 20 people riding there. I think it's safe to say that riding up to Skyline from the very lowest Alpine road entrance probably requires walking in parts if you're on a cyclocross type bike.
