BONC Gala ride this Saturday - South Yuba/Malakoff Area
Ride Start Time: 10 am
***Allow plenty of time to get there***
We will start rides from the South Yuba Campground.
It is a solid 30 minutes to drive from Nevada City to South Yuba Campground. It
does include some dirt/gravel roads on the way. My Honda Civic makes it, but add
a little more travel time if you have a low-clearance car. Once you go over the
South Yuba River at Edwards Crossing, the road turns to dirt and climbs the
ridge (couple miles). You will reach a 4-way intersection, stay on N Bloomfield
Rd. Heading down the road a bit, you will see the South Yuba Campground sign.
Turn right there, then look to your left and there will be a big parking area
with restrooms. Meet here at 9:45 am, ready to ride at 10 am. Bring plenty of
water and food.
Directions from Auburn
Depending on the turnout, we will try to have 2 rides.
One will be a solid beginner/intermediate ride around Malakoff area. This ride
will include 12.5 miles and 1200' absolute climbing.
There will also be a solid intermediate/advanced ride which will be a loop that
includes part of the South Yuba Trail. This ride has exposure and requires good
bike handling skills. Poison Oak is prevalent on the South Yuba Trail, so plan
