Auburn or other reccomendation?
Looking to get out of the snow and ice covered Reno area for new Years Eve and Day.
Any tips on trails, lodging, brew and grub?

With the current dry sunny weather, Auburn will be in great shape for a New Years ride. Probably still a little slick on Connector and the north side of FHDL.
The only grub and brew in town, that I know of, is Auburn Ale House. But I don't really care for either their grub or brews.
If you are up for a longer drive, check out Annadel State Park in Santa Rosa. Better trails, and a lot more of them. Great grub & brew at Russian River Brewing Co.

I like Sweetpea's for breakfast, but it is no Peg's. Still pretty good though.

if you've done auburn alehouse, check out little belgium deli on lincoln.
great beer selection and killer sammiches.

It looks like Big Boulder might be leading a New Years Hangover ride in Auburn.
New Year's day hangover ride thread. List 'em up!
BB knows all the good stuff and is a great ride leader.

Katrina's is the best breakfast in town. Hands down. Sweetpea's is pretty meh.

Dunno if you've tried it yet or not, but Club Car has a pretty decent kitchen these days. Good burgers.

Awesome Day! Thanks for the info. Spent a good 4 hours in the Foothill area and absolutely loved it. Its 20 degrees and covered in ice here at home. Nice to see grass and dirt and ride in shorts and a jersey.
Katrinas was closed new Years but had a fantastic omelet at SweetPeas.

After riding Auburn I prefer to pick up Old Town Pizza or Taylor’s and head over to Loomis Basin Brewery. a few minutes downhill of Auburn.

Agreed about Sweetpea's, but don't forget Awful Annie's for breakfast (or lunch). IMO every bit as worthy as Katrina's.
For Mex try Maria's; a long time favorite and perfect after a hard ride.

You're not talking about Maria's in Grass Valley are you? That's a long drive for post ride grub.
Is there a Maria's in Auburn?

Maria's has great traditional mex food. I'm especially fond of the carnitas.

Awful Annie's is pretty good, but tends to be more of a tourist place than Katrina's. Plus, I've yet to find anything at Annie's that tickles my fancy as much at Katrina's Turkey Pesto and Mushroom Omelet.

Oh, and if you havent found Joe Caribe's yet you're missing out. Its about a block north of the Foresthill Exit Raley's on the frontage road. Caribbean inspired semi-mexican food. My favorites there are the Pork Mojo Sandwich, and the Skirt Steak. My wife really digs the Curry Noodles and the Pot d'Creme desert.
Actually, I could really use MTB'ers help with Joe Caribe. He's at a perfect spot to get biker traffic and I want to hit him up as a sponsor for our team next year. It would be nice if he got used to seeing some bike people traffic.
