Lots of soft dirt out there. Please report actual trail conditions. The last rain was about a quarter inch in the low lands at around 4 am last Thursday.

Just got back from Pleasanton Ridge. Condition is good there. A couple of small wet spot here and there but that's it.
Went down Bay Leaf single track to sinbad creek and then up Shady creek. Creeks are running really low and easy to cross.

Gap was a slop fest early this morning. Probably better now, but it was wet.

Hoping that Santa Teresa County Park trails are open, seeing as it rained the other day. Doesn’t take much (deer pissing too much, crying coyotes, bobcats drooling too much) to close them.

    I rode in Auburn today.

South side of Foresthill Divide was perfect. Some standing water in the usual spots (that stay wet for long periods of time). The tree branches were really wet, weighed down and hanging over the trail. Got soaked by a couple. The climb at Drivers Flat Rd. was a little wet. The north side of the trail, as usual was slower to dry. In the oak section between the first two descents there's a huge branch of tree down blocking the trail. The bulk of the wet that I found was on the "big" descent to Clementine Rd. Not too bad, really.

Connector ... eh. The roller coaster section from the Divide Loop side to the look out had standing water in the apex of pretty much every turn. After the lookout it was pretty dry, with a little water on the climb after the bridge in the usual spots (at the rock runoff, etc). Otherwise it was good to go.

    Should be nice on Sunday.

    Rockville

Rockville was nice and tacky today. Muddy at the very top of the main trail up by the restrooms. Couple of spots of standing water but should be great for as long as the rain holds off.

I drove up to Skeggs this morning but it was wet, cold and somewhat miserable so I headed to Arastradero instead and the dirt there was perfect and no spit rain... Yes, I'm getting soft in my old age.

    Ouch, Arastadero is boooring.

I was contemplating trying Skeggs tomorrow, but it sounds like that won't work. Maybe Waterdog will be dry...

+1, a buddy and I did the same, got there and called it. After all the nice weather we've had I wasn't feeling it, it was dripping with heavy mist and fog rain and cold. It would have been a first day out on a brand new bike and I just couldn't bring myself to doing that to the bike first time out...

UCSC is no bueno as of 4/6. Lots of low spots and standing water. I figured it'd be more dried out than it was.

Not that anybody cares, but the spots that get unrideable in Tilden/Wildcat when it's wet, were unridable Saturday Afternoon.

Just got back from Briones. No more dust, no mud except on trails that get zero sun and do not drain well, basically great trail conditions except the cows and horses have gone all over the place so many trails need fixing up. Nice 90 minutes regardless...

China Camp in great condition, MCBC Gnomes were out encouraging the new contribution of funds "in case the ranger runs across you". Our group did, but still not super kosher w/ the whole "oh we had 45mil stashed, we have to close parks" crud.

I'm going back out tomorrow also. One day made a huge difference earlier last week and I'm guessing in should be decent tomorrow. Still wet in some spots but not out right gooey like it was Friday afternoon.
Painted indoors all day today and now I'm suffering aches and pains I never felt before.

Skeggs was very messy. You would think it got 3 inches of rain with all the standing puddles and muck. Fire roads are ok, single tracks not so much. Probably will need till mid week before it's "prime". Stay away tomorrow unless you want to spend 20 minutes demucking post ride.

Freaking wind man... supposed to last til 8pm tonight. Watch the allergies for sure.

Be very careful of very wooded trails. This is nature's way of tree trimming and it will either be littered with branches or a some tree parts may fall on you.

More open trails will get blow-dried so those will get dried out by today.

Rode a bit after an orienteering race in Del Valle on Sunday - picked up a couple control stations and got my knee to un-seize after all the running. Perfect riding... except for the fireroad gravel. But it is always bad. Took some cow tracks to get closer to control points - did not want to leave bike behind and hike. They are quite fun to ride. Damn you EBRPD for not having more singletrack.

Wind was nice - it was a bit hot in places during the actual race (running around right across all the hills out there)

Wilder was fine at lunch today. Greasy in a couple spots on Enchanted and Wild Boar but nothing too bad. Lots of small branches but luckily not a lot of serious wood.

4/8 - Still a lot of standing mud puddles in places in Santa Cruz. The wind last night knocked down quite a few trees. Keep your eyes looking forward and your head up! Avoid wet places if you can.

    FORT ORD
Was awesome today. Saw 12 other riders, mostly on or near Twisted Sister (new trail 49). BUT the word is that our parking and access trails from 8th & Gigling and from the end of Inter-Garrison Road may be permanently lost if the developers get their way. Anyone know more about this? From the way it sounds, this would be a major loss for MTB access. Ballot initiative & citizen-led fight is under way:

I rode Meadows Canyon in Tilden yesterday afternoon, and it was as dry as I've seen it all year. Dusty-dry. I think the wind all day yesterday and the full sun have really dried most of it out.

just got back from Nisene and you wouldn't even known it had rained a couple nights ago....This warm wind has dried out the ground pretty quick.

I think the end is near for the damp and tacky trail conditions. Get ready to start cleaning your chain more often and sh&t!!!

Rode Braille yesterday. About half way down there is a tree fully blocking the trail. It's shortly after the 3 jumps (2 on the right followed by the drop on the left). After you go around the turn and drop down that quick ridge (where the trail splits left/right) you'll find the tree.

Rest of the trails were in great condition. Little muddy in spots but should be perfect over next few days...

Yesterday morning it was muddy in spots, especially along Sierra Morena, and on the fireroads - Lawrence Creek and Virginia Mill. Resolution, North Leaf and South Leaf were all good and pretty dry. I was so tired by the time I hit Blue Blossom, I can't quite remember how it was - I think pretty decent though.

4/9 Ride Report (sorry, a day late).

S-Gap had lots of debris. Twigs, few wet spots (should be dry by now) branches and a tree blocking the trail just before you cross the hwy to long ridge.

Grizzly flat has a lot of debris and a tree down.

Stevens Canyon (canyon trail) about 3 miles from Stevens Canyon Trail head. A huge tree completely blocking the trail.

Trail condition at Sawpit, anyone has an update? Thanks!

Small branches and stuff all over Demo. Only saw that one tree down on Braille. Was wet in the usual spots that hold water, but overall pretty good shape. Ground felt soft though under my tires.

I noticed a tree had fallen across Highland Way, right after that first switchback as you climb up from the parking area. It was laying on some power lines in the air, so I didn't know who best to report that to.

Skeggs was excellent. We did Manzanita, crosscut Blue Blossom, crosscut, Salamander and there was not even a speck of mud. There's a lot of branches and sticks on the trail but the big ones have been cleared.

Another group did Resolution to the Leafs and they came back a little mud on their bikes.

Big parties with about 30 people at the lot.

Yep, Trails were in great condition. My fitness on the other hand, is still a work in progress...
Thanks for showing me an outsider a better route. Now I just have to figure out how to find it again....

    Ride report: 4/11 @ Demo.

Corral> minimal debris, no wet spots.
Sawpit> Perfect! No debris & wet spots at all!

Braille> few wet spots, minimal debris: twigs and branches were more on the top of braille. Then the tree that's blocking the trail.

Tree is right after this jump.

Demo and Nisene are currently both riding about as well as I've ever seen, you've got to really hunt for mud right now. It might actually get dried out if the winds keep up. As a bonus, all the flowers and ferns are pretty spectacular too. The conditions certainly met with Tinker's approval today.

    Hey Francis! Not a problem.

There are also bugs all over Demo. I kept having to knock them off my shirt. I saw one snake, and one other person I was climbing up with said they thought they saw one scurry out of the way. Turns out there's a bunch of bees near the bridge parking area too. Found out after I started peeing....on them.
