Anyone want to ride around Lake Tahoe....

    From Auburn and back?

Tahoe Rim Trail around Lake Tahoe, Western States Trail to get there and various other trails to make up the route. Likely right around the 4th of July, maybe on the 4th or starting that Thursday.Should be right around 475 miles, with about 300 of that being trail, 100 or so dirt roads and the rest divided into some pavement connectors.

I'm hoping for 4 days. Likely be 125 mile days back to back for 4 days. You'll need to be fully self supported, if you don't know what that means you can't go

I'll provide a GPX if you want to do it at your own pace. This will be the final practice run for the California Sierra Trail Race to work out any details and or problems.

Let me know if you need any details to further entice you or scare you away

I know not many people are setup for this type of riding but thought I'd see if there was any interest.

125 a day for four consecutive days? That's ambitious to say the least.

Sure, which hotels are we staying at each day??! Does a credit card count as "self supported"??!

Actually, sounds pretty fun ... but I think about 75-80 miles a day is my current limit...

What Brian said. However, with some coordination, I could see hitting a good chunk of a day with you... either TRT stuff, or Hwy 50 area back to Auburn... you should be tired by then and I might be able to keep up!

Have you posted this in either the Endurance Racing Forum or Bikepacking and Expedition Forum?
You might get some long distance interest.

Sean, you can stop by the house for some hot tea and crumpets when you pass though the south shore.

wow, that sounds like a pretty ambitious trip. I just got back from SF to Tahoe on my road bike and couldn't imagine doing those kinds of miles on my mt bike....
Can't wait to read the post-ride write up...

    plus one here

Yeah Im game. I was hoping this this summer would be the kick-off inaugural "sierra trail race", but a recon mission sounds great too. It will be an independent( self-supported) loop starting on independence day...fitting. 6am 7/4/12 Auburn?
