    Any Night Crews Out There?

I prefer riding at night- any others and if so, where do you meet/skill level? I'm in San Francisco East Bay

I do a semi-regular headlands loop around 8:00ish a couple nights a month. Tam Bikes organizes a weekly ride as well. 100% legal, but not exactly swoopy singletrack.

Thanks! What trail(s)? The ones I ride are not legal but that's why I ride at night (for the fun single tracks) and the rangers don't seem to mind...

You could ride Hogan (Valley Springs, Calaveras County) at night. It would be an awesome ride. I've been going up there for 30 years, and still haven't done a night ride.

You'd have to be a little stealthy about your parking place, though.

I try to ride after work, Monday thru Thursday. Far East Bay, Briones, Crockett, Lime Ridge, and Black Diamond Mines.

More fun, less paranoid on outlaw tracks, more wildlife, no hikers/equestrian, beer taste better after the ride.

Most of the time I ride solo....it is easier. Ron

I work near Lime Ridge so I'm going to try to get after work rides in starting next week. Below average ascender, average descender.

Coastal, Miwok, Bobcat, Marincello, RVT, and the little loop around Battery Townsley if I'm on my cross bike. Some options to ride singletrack of dubious legality exist, and I have only seen a ranger once in about a decade of doing this (and he didn't care).

Ride Lime Ridge or Shell Ridge at night just about any day of the week and you're bound to run into some other riders! That's how I met folks after I moved east of the tunnel.

JMP is nice at night. You'll usually see a few other groups if it's nice out. That and plenty of nocturnal critters.

Check the LBSs near where you want to ride. Most near me (Lime Ridge) have a weekly "shop ride" after work, and on different nights. :-)

    Thanks to you all!

JMP is a couple blocks from me- and Redwood at Skyline gate about a block- I ride West Ridge at night a lot. I also ride Shell Ridge regularly at night- especially the Ridge Trail and Twin Ponds... I used to see a fairly large group around 8-9pm of guys at Shell Ridge...

I was looking at JMP, actually never ridden there- Cinderella looks fun!

I ride occasionally at night at JMP. I usually see a couple of other riders out there as well. With daylight savings coming up, I may not be doing too much more night riding this season as I get up hella early for work.

1st #Chainless run event held last Friday night in lime ridge. It was such a great turnout and most of all getting together and having some fun. We are planning a monthly chainless get together in lime ridge last Friday of every month.

Does chainless mean what I think it means?

I don't really know the terrain there even though I work like a mile from a trailhead. I assumed there was lots of climbing.

Lime Ridge is pretty Rad because it''s basically up to the top, then down to the bottom!

We pedal to the top and we take our chain off and stash it in our packs or pocket. you can either run and jump on your bike at the start. Some tried to scooter. However you feel comfortable and most efficient. The key is to navigate, flow, and keep momentum to the end of the trail. Is it hard? Doesn't sound fun? I say give it a try, let's see what your time is? HAHAHA #Nopedalthorn Shows your flaws.

There are weekly Friday Night group rides in Northern Napa Valley. XC terrain, mostly singletrack, usually 10 to 15 miles, meet at Bicycle Works at 6pm, trailhead at 7pm. Call the shop to confirm times and location of ride (changes weekly).
I get paid to ride shotgun.

    Here I'm

    Hi all !

Also new to the Bay Area, I have just bought a MTB and I'm quite beginner to this sport . I'm located in Walnut Creek and definitely try to find some people to share a ride ! I have already tried Mt Diablo and Briones last week which are so cool !
So if you are open to share the path, I'll be glad !

    Thanks,
    Jonathan

My night ride starts at 5:50 am and is on the road bike. Used to night ride in the east bay. Definitely a different challenge.
Faster is not always better, but it's always more fun

Looking for Lime Ridge suggestions. If this shouldn't be asked then mod please delete my reply. I'm coming from the Contra Costa Canal path from direction of YV. I've seen a few trailheads along the path if I turn right at the end of it when I'm on a road ride. Can anyone suggest me which trailhead would get me a good climb and fun descent that could get me to and from work within 1-1.5 hour? Trying to get a post work ride in starting around 5pm weekdays.

Btw my post was only asking for bike legal trails! I only ride fireroads or paved multi use paths.
