Upper Bidwell Park in Chico. It's about 45 minutes from Red Bluff. If there is any rain the trails can be closed, but rain doesn't seem likely these days. You can check here for the trail status:

General Services - Departments - City of Chico

I've also been looking online at a dirt/4WD road off Hwy 99 near Red Bluff, Hogback road. It doesn't look like a technical mtb ride but it leads up toward the Ishi Wilderness and Antelope Creek, which looks nice. The trails off the road may be bike legal as long as you don't go into the Ishi Wilderness. I've never been up there mountain biking, though.

There is a trail on BLM land nearby, the Yana trail, that is bike legal. It doesn't seem to be technical riding. Here's a link:

BLM, Redding Field Office - Sacramento River Bend Outstanding Natural Area

I used to live in Chico, wish I lived closer to explore these areas.

thank's, i will check though's out when i get a chase. I live three miles from Hogback and occasionally when i want a descent climb i will go up there and do the first two miles of it, after that it flattens out.

Looks like you're stuck with having to explore the Redding area trails.

There is good riding in Red Bluff, well worth drive from Chico. They are not built by cyclist and are a little primitive but are a good mix of double track, smooth singletrack and rough trail.
