    Annual elevation. What's yours?

My goal was to climb 1/2 million feet this year and I'm going to fall short. Unless...

    Currently I'm at 435,197ft

Me too, currently at 455k, but lost a few rides worth about 10k. Going to try hard to crack it.

427,119ft...last year 544,021ft...what a difference the Strava team climb challenge had. (that and the decision to start making LOTS of home brew.)
I'm not sure how this works.

I hadnt ridden in 15years and started up again in late feb. Only been avg 2 rides a week and I should crack 108k tomorrow. Feel like my strength is finally starting to show up. I'm a full blown junkie now
I hope you have a big trunk... cause I'm gonna put my bike in it!

458k. I hit my 500k mark from sept-sept (517,612 ), which was my goal when I got my garmin.

Everyone I hear that goes for a 10,000mi year or a million footie mark, says they literally spend so much time on the bike that they regret the decision. Loss of family time, never see your friends. But to someone fresh out of college, it sounds like such an awesome challenge.

    Nice work everyone!

I use Strava to track miles and elevation. Started using it on May 26 of this year. Not sure of what my elevation was before that but it couldn't have been much because I didn't feel like I did many long climbs until I bought my GT Avalanche and started riding trails. I can only think of 3 rides I didn't record and they were like cruising town to do errands anyways except for one iPhone malfunction on a trail ride.

Currently at 717,917 - should be able to get 750,000 barring any long spells of bad weather. Most of my friends ride, so the not-getting-to-see-friends thing doesn't really apply. If anything, I've made more new friends - almost every weekend is road trip to ride somewhere cool, and I'm always looking for people to join me

I'm guessing this is going to be on the flatter side of things. From strava,

    Year-to-Date
    Distance 5,354.7mi
    Time 389hr 13m
    Elev Gain 356,752ft
    Rides 219

lots of flat commutes into the wind.

With my insane work schedule I only get 1:30 to ride a day - a little longer on the weekends, but I work most weekends.

I've only done 227K in the last year. I think I did less than 5 road rides this entire year.

Haven't done a ton of feet but I did average 115 feet per mile and 1187 feet per hour. Although if you consider the fact that you have to come down in order to go up, total feet per *climbing* mile would be 230.

This past year has been pretty crappy as far as how much time I've had to go ride. I have had a lot of time to spend with my son, so that part is very good, but the not riding much has made me a royal pain in the ass to live with this last year.

    Rough estimate 2 x 25k x 600m climb per week.
2500k's and 30k for 2012 keeps me happy and fit enough.

I put in a lot of flat road miles in SLO this year, but next year a million should be easy since I'm riding in the East Bay and focusing on mtb again.

    Year-to-Date
    Distance 11,153.8mi
    Time 676hr 19m
    Elev Gain 763,579ft

I'm in a big training block now, so probably 40-50k more in the next 20 days.

edit: If I get really close to some sort of exciting number, I will fudge it with run data

This year started out well, then with a new job, moving, back to school and a broken bike it's not ending all that well, climbing wise. Good thing the new cross bike is almost done and I have a pair of slicks already mounted.

Funny you should ask, looks like I'll hit 500,000' sometime today. Garmin says:

    Elevation Gain:
    499,646 ft

I'm riding less this year; just bike commuting and pleasure riding. My ride home from work is minimum 1100' uphill every night. I bike commute 3-4 times a week.

Edit: Strava says 483,645ft. Yeah, I upload to both.

Regardless of how many miles we rode or climbed, I hope you all had a fun time on your bike!

I will only include mountain bike stats since this is a MOUNTAIN bike site

    131 activities
    4,447 miles
    510,619 of elevation gain

The thing I'm most excited about is the 11.5 mph average on the MTB that I seem to have been able to hold the last few years. Also averaging almost 34 miles a ride is exciting as well. Getting older sucks, but staying about the same speed does offer hope

I haven't ridden the road bike since April, but got another 2000 miles and about 130'000' of vert on it this year. Looking to ride the roadie even less next year.

Wow Sean you are a beast!! I was hoping all stats would be mtb from everyone one but I guess most riders do both. I get a little whiney when I have to ride a little road to connect to another trail. Anyway, very fast average speed. Impressive.

I actually returned my Garmin to REI for this reason. I keep the cell on for emergencies, but that's it. Getting back to just riding is rad.

Its kind of interesting to divide the footage by the mileage.

    Leopold 117 ft/mi
    rednova 187
    menso 68 (road miles)
    motorbacon 81
    SeanAllen 114
    mbolt 144
    where 140
    nordy 85

As kind of a standard, I mostly ride the ARSA (clementine, culvert, FHDL, etc) and I logged a 144.

Not sure where rednova rides, but it must be on the side of a cliff.

If you worked up some averages this metric could serve as a good way of rating rides and riding areas. I'll have to throw that in the strava suggestion box.

150.7 here. Some folk ride road to/fro the trailhead which might "skew" it. I drive.

As kind of a standard, I mostly ride the ARSA (clementine, culvert, FHDL, etc) and I logged a 144.

Not sure where rednova rides, but it must be on the side of a cliff.
you can get 250-325ft+ a mile in auburn based on some routes. It won't be fun though.
