Annual elevation. What's yours?
My goal was to climb 1/2 million feet this year and I'm going to fall short. Unless...
Currently I'm at 435,197ft
Me too, currently at 455k, but lost a few rides worth about 10k. Going to try hard to crack it.
427,119ft...last year 544,021ft...what a difference the Strava team climb challenge had. (that and the decision to start making LOTS of home brew.)
More than some, less than others
I prob rode more this year than last, but missed 6 wks due to a nasty injury and two knee surgeries.
About to hit 750k. Might have to go for the million next year...
I hadnt ridden in 15years and started up again in late feb. Only been avg 2 rides a week and I should crack 108k tomorrow. Feel like my strength is finally starting to show up. I'm a full blown junkie now :D
458k. I hit my 500k mark from sept-sept (517,612 ), which was my goal when I got my garmin.
Everyone I hear that goes for a 10,000mi year or a million footie mark, says they literally spend so much time on the bike that they regret the decision. Loss of family time, never see your friends. But to someone fresh out of college, it sounds like such an awesome challenge.
Nice work everyone!
I use Strava to track miles and elevation. Started using it on May 26 of this year. Not sure of what my elevation was before that but it couldn't have been much because I didn't feel like I did many long climbs until I bought my GT Avalanche and started riding trails. I can only think of 3 rides I didn't record and they were like cruising town to do errands anyways except for one iPhone malfunction on a trail ride.
Oh and my mileage is 2,567

I'm guessing this is going to be on the flatter side of things. From strava,
Time 389hr 13m
Elev Gain 356,752ft
lots of flat commutes into the wind.
With my insane work schedule I only get 1:30 to ride a day - a little longer on the weekends, but I work most weekends.
I've only done 227K in the last year. I think I did less than 5 road rides this entire year.
772 and counting! should hit 800. million would be fun some year.. quality over quantity for me though
also passed 10,000mi, which I didn't think I'd get to this year. fun times
Still at 26 feet above sea level. Same as the last three years.
Haven't done a ton of feet but I did average 115 feet per mile and 1187 feet per hour. Although if you consider the fact that you have to come down in order to go up, total feet per *climbing* mile would be 230. :)
In 2012 I tried to ride as much singletrack / trails as possible... I think I got out to Demo / Skeggs about 55 times so far this year.
2012 - 361,358 ft
2011 - 371,872 ft
...That's some quality time spent on the bike!

This past year has been pretty crappy as far as how much time I've had to go ride. I have had a lot of time to spend with my son, so that part is very good, but the not riding much has made me a royal pain in the ass to live with this last year.

Some of you guys are doing 15k'/week?!! Crazy!
Im lucky to get 15k'/mo. I started riding this past July and so far Im on par for about a 150k' year. Wish I had time for more than 2 rides a week.
I had some injuries which threw me off for a while here and there, and I had a month or so of just not wanting to ride at all.
Time 244hr 30m
Elev Gain 240,059ft
Time 604hr 9min

+ I've hike 769 miles this year
Have put in 139,853 miles since May 1st 1990 but starting riding seriously in 85'
and yes I do work full time
Rough estimate 2 x 25k x 600m climb per week.
2500k's and 30k for 2012 keeps me happy and fit enough.
This thread is giving me a complex. Damn you Strava.
Not Strava, MTBR's fault. :)

I put in a lot of flat road miles in SLO this year, but next year a million should be easy since I'm riding in the East Bay and focusing on mtb again.
Time 676hr 19m

I'm in a big training block now, so probably 40-50k more in the next 20 days.
edit: If I get really close to some sort of exciting number, I will fudge it with run data

This year started out well, then with a new job, moving, back to school and a broken bike it's not ending all that well, climbing wise. Good thing the new cross bike is almost done and I have a pair of slicks already mounted.
Time 160hr 57m

I've got to get really busy in the next 2 weeks to get over my 1500 mtb mile goal. Lets hope the weather cooperates.
Funny you should ask, looks like I'll hit 500,000' sometime today. Garmin says:
I'm riding less this year; just bike commuting and pleasure riding. My ride home from work is minimum 1100' uphill every night. I bike commute 3-4 times a week.
Edit: Strava says 483,645ft. Yeah, I upload to both.
Regardless of how many miles we rode or climbed, I hope you all had a fun time on your bike!
I will only include mountain bike stats since this is a MOUNTAIN bike site;)
510,619 of elevation gain
The thing I'm most excited about is the 11.5 mph average on the MTB that I seem to have been able to hold the last few years. Also averaging almost 34 miles a ride is exciting as well. Getting older sucks, but staying about the same speed does offer hope:p
I haven't ridden the road bike since April, but got another 2000 miles and about 130'000' of vert on it this year. Looking to ride the roadie even less next year.
Wow Sean you are a beast!! I was hoping all stats would be mtb from everyone one but I guess most riders do both. I get a little whiney when I have to ride a little road to connect to another trail. Anyway, very fast average speed. Impressive.

I have done over 600 hours of work on the new trail in Pogonip the last two years which helps with the fitness.
Going to try to get to 500k! Lost 8 weeks in the spring with the broken acetabulum.

I just ride my bike, up, down, around, and enjoy it. I have no electronics on me except for a turned off cell phone and a digital camera. No clue or cares as to how far ,fast, or how much. I prefer to smell the fungi and wildflowers
I have no doubt you'll accomplish your task.... I'm just curious in how few of rides you'll do it in :).

Its kind of interesting to divide the footage by the mileage.
Leopold 117 ft/mi
menso 68 (road miles)
As kind of a standard, I mostly ride the ARSA (clementine, culvert, FHDL, etc) and I logged a 144.
Not sure where rednova rides, but it must be on the side of a cliff.
If you worked up some averages this metric could serve as a good way of rating rides and riding areas. I'll have to throw that in the strava suggestion box.

150.7 here. Some folk ride road to/fro the trailhead which might "skew" it. I drive.
