They almost came through Groveland last year, francois. Our bike club's VP is the driver of the Trek Team bus. Hopefully he'll have some good pics and good stories to ell

Hope you all enjoy the event!

Participating in the charity Time Trial at 10:30 and yes, finishing at top of Metcalf road on the hideous climb! I am then going back down to watch the start at 12:45 and see some of the riders go. After seeing that, riding over to Malech rd and Metcalf rd to watch them turn and start the hideous climb up. Should be a great day and get to see some awesome riders. Hoping to improve my TT time as I have already ridden the course but had the hellacious headwind going back north towards Metcalf road.

Hey pmarshall, I'm doing the charity ride too! Riding with team Luxvue, look for our red/white jerseys. Our CFO did the route last weekend and mentioned a head wind while heading north as well. I think this is a common wind / weather pattern for that area. Good luck and maybe I'll see you out there.

I live downtown Santa Rosa, about a 1 minute ride to Russian River Brewery. I'll probably go out there if anyone wants to meet up for a few brews.

I'll be viewing the race from the backseat of a SRAM service car. We've been Car 2 which is the first of the red cars on the road. Front row seat all week! A little work here and there to get the seat, but worth it.

I'll keep my eyes open for MTBR jerseys!

That's awesome. What school do you teach at if you don't mind me asking? I've grown up in the area and am a few years out of college. This will be my first time attending downtown, what time would you recommend getting down there?

Unless you want to be right at the finish line, you can find a good viewing spot pretty easily. Last year I was on 3rd St. where it passes under the mall so I could see them climb the slight hill. Anyplace the course makes a turn is good too.
I like to get there early just to browse all the booths and soak up the cycling atmosphere. Definitely don't drive. Walk or bike--there's usually free valet bike parking.

These were my thoughts earlier in the week......

TOC Stage 7 @ Mt Diablo. Ride a Mountan Bike And Watch Roadies Abuse Themselves.

Which were met with, well, resounding indifference.

Boggles the mind to consider how many photos were taken during the event; almost every spectator had a camera and (if like me) took a pix of every rider coming through...

I ran out of batteries in my point-and-shoot by the time "the big names" were racing by; these are from my iPhone:

Second from the last; Michael Rogers

And the winnahhh is....Tejay van Garderen!

Location; corner of Oak Glen and Willow Springs (Chesbro Reservoir in background)
