    2015 Mendocino 100 / 100k - new route!

    2015 Mendocino 100 / 100k - new route!-m100_poster_051315_web.jpg

Saturday, July 11th! We've got a new route with more singletrack this year!
Chef Dave is back with the awesome buffet!

We're building on last years event and making this years route even better. We've improved our marking system and we're sending riders out before the start to check segments to ensure markings are good the morning of as well.

There's the 40 mile guided concierge ride too if you want to shralp but don't want to feel the pressure to race. This option gives you more time to enjoy the real food at aid-stations. We're camping on the bluff over Mendocino at Big River again this year too, that was half the fun!

The course will be open Friday, July 10th for previewing as well. You can register here:

    See you in the woods!!

So a couple of notes on the new route for this year:

We're going in on the Big River Haul Rd. like last year, then we're doing two 40 mile loops. This will give us the ability to stay entirely south of HWY20 and off all of the forest road riding north of there that people were less stoked about than the singletrack. So, two 40 mile loops that will include all of the singletrack highlights in the Scales area and Giroland and the Woodlands. Then we're going to have your exit be going out west on the North Boundary trail. This will give you a good sightline to the well marked finish line and a chance to sprint it out with others safely should you need to do that too.

When you're done you'll just putter down HWY1 back to the parking lot at Big River. It's a short downhill spin on a wide, smooth shoulder.

We wanted to improve our marking system as well. Obviously marking a total 60 miles rather than 100 will make the job less of a struggle. Another thing we're going to do to alleviate the chances of people tampering with the markings is send riders out ahead of the pack on Saturday morning to ensure that all markings are where they should be and touch up and spots where trail gnomes have tried to help us out. Having the race on July 11th instead of July 4th weekend will reduce the number of 'helpers' out there as well.
