2012 Strava/GPS stats - how'd you do?
Compared to 2011?
Still a few days to go and add those last few miles/footies.
Here's to refresh your memory:
I'm gonna miss the 600k mark
Better than last year. Don't think I'll be upping the ante for 2013 - at least as far as elevation goes.
- Distance 5,113 mi
- Time 482hr 45m
- Elev Gain 655,229 ft
- Rides 276
- Distance 5,320.0mi
- Time 572hr 20m
- Elev Gain 752,116ft
- Rides 288
Hoping to try some ultra endurance stuff for 2013 - in addition to picking up a DH bike :)
- Distance: 40,361mi.
- Time: 103hr 32m
- Elev Gain: 7,041,891 ft
- Rides: 14
Kale shakes helped some.
Distance 4,635 mi
Time 408hr 52m
Elev Gain 654,858 ft
Time 566hr 30m
Elev Gain 836,437ft
Hmm… other than getting out a calculator, I have no idea how to see the 2011 footies/rides/miles.
For 2012 this is what I have been good for (EDITED 12/31/2012 @ 6:51PM Pacific Time):
Time 462hr 13m
Elev Gain 536,893ft
2,485.8 of those miles (including two no-dabs runs up Dogmeat in the past week  ) were done on my 38 pound 9:zero:7 “fatfukk” fatbike with 16 pounds of rotating mass (wheels/tires/tubes/spokes/hubs). Strava needs to have more granular “toughness determination” algorithms that take into consideration the rotating mass one has to keep spinning.
WOW!! You guys are studs!
Here's mine, a bit more pedestrian. But was still happy I got out to ride as much as I did.
Time 271hr 41m
Elev Gain 216,969ft
I obviously didn't do 7million feet of climbing in 14 rides. I just don't have the time to ride as much as some do. I think I did about where you are, give or take. :)

I get a very small window of time during my day to ride (lunch rides), and that's about it.
I didn't do any long rides at all this year. Probably the longest ride I did was under 40 miles (just checked, it was 34 miles ). My job requires working from early morning to late night, so this is me, with only doing lunch rides and out-and-backs on the weekends.
I think, even if I had 3/4/5 hours free to ride, I would have anxiety, thinking I needed to get back to work. :( You guys with all those miles and feet baffle the hell out of me.
Count: 191 Activities
Distance: 2,822.43 mi
Elevation Gain: 224,753 ft
I guess I've plateaued. I really thought I was riding more this year, but Nov and Dec have been really lean. Too much working and then the rain makes it easy to sit on the couch and drink beer. The upside is my tolerance for Imperial IPAs is at an all time high.
Okay - got in two more rides for 2012 so I could surpass the 2011 elevation:
Time 440hr 4m
Elev Gain 437,136ft
Distance 3,657 mi
Time 428hr 51m
Elev Gain 436,190 ft
* 3,464 mi
* Elev Gain
* 403,828 ft
How does one get Strava's last year total elevation without adding it up manually?
Time: 604hr 19m
Elev Gain: 621,854ft
and KOM list stretched to the 9th page. :)
Just finished last ride of the year on a brand spankin' new kick ass trail in my back yard...bring on 2013:
Avg Rides / Week 4
Avg Distance / Week 49mi
Avg Time / Week 7hr 24m
Time 370hr 41m
Elev Gain 461,719ft
I'm pretty impressed with some of the totals people have put up for this past year! I just started Strava in May but I didn't get serious with the mileage until the Summer anyway, so start date would probably not have mattered.
Anyway, today's final ride of 2012 put me over my goal for the year of 2000 miles:
Average rides per week: 4
Average distance per week: 75 miles
Average hours per week: 5 hours 43 minutes
Distance: 2004.6 miles
Time: 178 hours 43 minutes
Elevation gain: 204,173 feet
To be fair, over half of that mileage was on my old Stumpjumper hardtail on pretty firm surfaces. The elevation is mostly climbing Montara on my Nomad.
Next year was originally going to set a goal of 3000 miles but after reading this thread I'm thinking I'd be a wimp if I didn't at least aim for 4000!
Time 183hr 14m
Elev Gain 215,627ft
Nothing to write home about. I did learn a lot about beer and introduced lots of Corona and Heinekin drinkers to real beer. I'm more proud of that!
Not sure how to do it in Strava - I just looked at the MTBR thread from last year.

Great year of riding, but very slow ending.
Bravo on the most successful 2012 I've seen posted in this thread yet. Well done sir. Well done.

^^^ Not many hills or mountains where you ride??
Sure thing. On your next Kennedy ride, the ancient rascal and yourself really should swap bikes for a change.

It's all good.
Made 1502 Miles, 216 hours, 216k footies, 158 rides.
Not a lot of miles but most of it was up and down the sides of the Auburn SRA canyon, so I'm pleased.
About half as much as 2011, which was one third of 2010 =/
