XTR Trail levers going to the bars after a rain race

About halfway through a sandy rain race last night my XTR Trail brakes started going to the bar (both front and rear equally) - they don't feel mushy like there is air in the system - just the lever travel is massive and they are not at full power by the time they hit the bar.

Not sure what would of caused this - they were working great up to this point.

Any ideas on what I should do to get them back to normal before the next race?

One of mine came close to the bars when I accidentally adjusted the reach adjust the wrong direction.....had nothing to do with rain though.

Wet sandy race. Are your pads perhaps worn out from the tough conditions? I couldn't believe how worn my pads were after a muddy race.

    Good luck,
I can barely get my mouth around it.
