will a front dero-lx V-brake work on rear wheel?

i have yet to find any rear model of deore-lx v-brakes in any bike shops around here. They all say front on the box. Could i gput a "front" brake on my rear wheel?

Yes. I recall Shīmano having a slight difference in bolt lengths between front and rear, but that shouldn't result in any difficulty (kind of a mystery to me that I've not heard explained). You also might be stuck with a 90° noodle when a 130° noodle is better suited for most rear applications, but again, not a deal breaker. Then again, it might come with both.

Or better yet you could just grab an Avīd SD5 or SD7 and live happily ever after.

You will also have to change the brake pads from one side to the other so that the long part of the brake pad is facing rearward.

yes all you really need to do is trade brake pads on the vee's and thats it. this is what our shop does when we run out of rear brakes.
