I'm asking this question because I have just setup a 180 mm rotor with Shimano M596 calipers using a Shimano adapter. My LBS set it up like this: post mounts - adapter - washers - caliper. He said it should be so to allow adjustability of the caliper.
What is happening is that the pads are not sweeping about 20% of the lower part of the rotor. i.e The caliper is a bit higher.
I looked at Shimano techdocs and they show it like this: post mount - adapter - caliper - washers. If it were done like this it would lower the caliper and probably the pads would sweep the whole rotor area. Is this correct ? If it were to be done like this there would be no adjustability of the caliper.
How is your setup ?
The adapter is the right way up.
